Description of 1968 Ford Mustang GT

VIN: 8R01J117895According to it's Marti report (available to interested buyer), this '68 Mustang R code GT coupe is 1 of only 7 that is equipped with a factory 4 speed, factory limited slip differential and the "triple black" color combination of black paint, black interior and black vinyl roof. Options include: Black Vinyl Roof, GT Equipment Group, Limited slip differential, Front disc brakes, Interior decor group, Tachometer and odometer.
The car is complete and original numbers matching EXCEPT for the motor. It came to me with a '66 289 4 barrel. I tracked down and purchased a date code correct, long block 302 4 barrel motor which goes with the car along with the '66 289.
As can be seen from the photos, I began disassembling the car shortly after I bought it almost 4 yrs ago. It has been inside my garage the whole time. I was going to restore it but no longer have the time or desire to do so. Everything that I removed was tagged and the fasteners that held the parts were kept with the part. All wiring and electrical connections were also tagged.
Rust is always a major issue with old cars so I'm happy to say that there are NO major rust issues with this car. The typical, main areas of concern with old Mustangs are the cowl box, floor pans and lower quarter panels. All 3 areas in this car are solid with only minor rust and 1 small area of rust through on the left quarter panel low down, behind the wheel well.
I had the original factory 4 speed professionally rebuilt and the differential and rear brakes have been gone through. It also has new leaf springs.
The rest of the body is solid but with faded paint. The only filler I have been able to find is on the hood and on both fenders. The dents the filler is in are shallow (less then 1/2") as evidenced by looking at the inside where the depth of the dents can be seen.
Other things that will need attention: Windshield has a couple of big chips - all other glass is good. Vinyl roof is ripped and torn but should be replaced instead of removed since it is part of the rare triple black color combo.
Interior: Front and rear seats, door panels and headliner are all in very good condition. Car came with the optional overhead console which I have 2 of - the original and an extra.
Tires and wheels are in excellent condition.
Many more pics and much more info available then I can put in this ad. If seriously interested, I'll send it all on to you, or come look.
If you've always wanted a "Bullitt"Mustang fastback (like me) but can't afford (like me) the ridiculous prices being asked for even the worst, clapped out non GT fastbacks, this '68 GT coupe is your best shot at owning a reasonably priced classic that will only appreciate over the coming years.

ATTENTION: I was just recently made aware that I have incorrectly identified this car as an R code car. IT IS NOT!! The VIN is correct, but this is a J code car. There is also a J in the VIN. Since someone has already placed the minimum bid, ebay will not let me change any of the information in the ad. My apologies for this mistake.
