Description of 1966 Ford Fairlane XL 500

Ford Fairlane . Listed is a 1966 Ford Fairlane XL 500 2 door hardtop. I will be sharing with you what I know, no more..... no less. I purchased this car from a estate sale. The car has had 2 owners from what I am told and the car is remarkably in its orig form. Not much info was avail on the car, the 2 prior owners had passed. I will give you a honest run down of the car. For starters it is the desirable XL 500. It has at some point been repainted, however I think its been a long time ago. I cleaned a area you can see in the pics and this thing would shine again. The body though complete shows signs of some prior repairs and also some current blisters and rust. The rear window appears to be a culprit of the ever happening rear window leak, it was taped when I purchased and will be still upon its sale! All windows open and close as they should along with the hood, trunk and both doors. Alignment is very straight again as the photos will show. All glass except the windshield is both good condition, and clear. The windshield will have to be replaced. All components for the spare are there in the truck including the complete jack assembly, storage brackets and appears to be the orig mat as well. Moving into the interior you can see in the pics its in pretty nice condition! like really nice with a detail. This is the sought after bucket seat center console being the XL version......The drivers seat has 2 panels that can be repaired cheap and easy. the back seat is perfect, headliner looks excellent. Door panels are fair and someone obviously made the arm bases, they are avail in reproduction. The rear package tray show signs of past water damage and goes hand in hand with the above paragraph on the leaking rear window. All instrument lights work, as does all the vent, heat, blower, turn signal, flashers, headlights, and even the glove box mounted 4 way safety flashers. Power is a factory 289 2v carb with automatic trans. I added a battery and car fired right off after sitting several years. It does have a leaking doughnut on drivers manifold but quiets a bit once warm. It has a nice tone rumbling through factory dual exhaust!...It goes into all gears. brakes at some-point appear to have been worked on as shown in the pics you'll see a dual master and some newer lines. They work but should be looked at as it seems the drivers rear grabs first. power steering works as should. I have run the car several times and operates as should with good temps and no warning lights etc. all warm up and safety lamps are present and appear to work as they should too. Fuel has been drained and replaced with fresh. Now for the underside, it will need floor pan work and or a entire floor pan. I see em avail and almost seem the common issue among this car. Mac's has em for 600 dollars or less and I'm sure avail elsewhere too. I've enclosed pics the best I can get for the underside, the tow truck driver said car was solid when he loaded. rails appear all good, cross braces etc also good. The pans are just really weak and in poor condition, mainly the passengers side but drivers pedal area noted soft too. I dont wanna take away how very nice this car is! In fact I think you could patch the pans and enjoy this car with a weekend of elbow work. Maybe wait til winter to do the floor pan project and fix the bumps and bruises as your cruisin local shows. This car would show well anywhere be it a local show, or a night about the town. again don't wanna distract how nice a complete, unmolested car this is! but want it known its a 50 plus year automobile that will require repair and time. That being said car is 100% as is where is, no warranty expressed or implied. Ask any and all questions before you bid. I have been on EBay for years and take seriously, I have sold cars, trucks, bikes, and many a part. It's not often but when I do it's described probably sounding worse than it should be! Check my feedback it speaks for itself as a seller and buyer. I am opening this at a more than fair start and am doing so with no reserve.......... Good luck and happy bidding ******. **
