Description of 1962 Ford Galaxie

1962 Ford SunlinerSport Roadster SunlinerZ code Thunderbird 390 V8Original California ConvertibleOriginal dual CaliforniaBlack LicensePlatesPut into storage when Gerald Ford was President

Up for sale is a beautiful Corinthian White 1962 Ford Sunliner "Sport Roadster Sunliner". This car is a true California car, originally built in Los Angeles, California and purchased of the showroom floor of Cirimele Ford in Oakland, California. The vehicle has never ventured outside of the bay area. The car was sold by the original owner to a local collector in 1975, where it was put away into storage with over 300 other vehicles many of which are Fords including every Galaxie/Sunliner from 1959-1968. This 62 was the missing piece and the only 1962 of the bunch. Many vehicles that are almost 6 decades old are no longer in existence/ poor condition or have been extensivelyrestored. This is a unique opportunityto own a car that has not been restored and in originalcondition looking like it did in 1962. In 1975 Jimmy Hoffa and this Ford disappeared from the streets, unlike Hoffa this Ford has not disappearedfor good and the unique opportunityto own this time capsule is now available.

Cosmetically this car is a stunner and looks absolutely beautiful. The body is quite straight and there are no rust issues at all. The Corinthian white paint is in fantastic condition and shines beautifully. The only imperfection is the drivers rear quarter panel had a scratch that was painted and fogged to match before the vehicle went into storage in the early 70s. The original chrome bumper and polished grille are in great shape with no pitting or imperfections. All the emblems are original and in great shape, the red and black paint on the 390 emblem is still quite vibrant. The rear bumper is original and in great shape and has not been hit or show any pitting. All the hubcaps are original and in fantastic condition. The convertible has one small tear otherwise is original and in great shape, the rear window has NO fade from the sun. Overall this car is in great shape for a vehicle; but a 58 year old convertible that is original its in remarkable condition and truly a survivor.Step inside this Ford and your stepping back to 1962. The interior is as nice of an interior as you'll find in 58 year old car. Starting with the dash there are no cracks and or sun fade. The polished gauges shine beautifully and whats its even better every single gauge is functional. The radio is functional, the heater and air vents are functional. All the door panels are in great condition. The seats are in great shape, the upholstery has no rips or sag and there is no sun fade. The convertible top goes up and down with no issues. The carpet has no rips. I am honestly having a hard time finding anything wrong with the interior, like I said its original and as nice of an interior as you'll find.Mechanically the z code Thunderbird 390 v8 fires up on the first turn and runs smooth. The motor pulls strong and the transmission shifts smooth in all gears as well as reverse. 1962 has a 1 year only fuel pump design and is unique to only a 1962 Galaxie. The car brakes like a 1962 Ford. This car is mechanically sound and has been maintained throughout its life includingwhile in storage. All the lights are functional as well as the horn. This listing includes well over 150 detailed photos in various lighting and the vehicle has been described as descriptive as possible.
