Description of 1965 Ford Thunderbird

Selling a beautiful 1965 Ford Thunderbird convertible. I bought this car out of long-term storage. The last owner passed away and the car has been sitting for at least four years. It was treated by the last owner to a beautiful Cosmetic restoration. It is finished in fiesta red, with white interior. The paint shows exceptionally well, with no signs of improper bodywork. It is especially straight, and all gaps and margins are very nice. There are a few very few small chips that have been touched up, however they are barely noticeable. All glass is in excellent condition, and the convertible top appears to be brand new. The top frame was obviously restored prior to installation of the top. The chrome and diecast on this car are also exceptional. Bumpers have obviously been replayed it and most of the diecast including the grills and side trim appear to be NOS. The wheels are Kelsey Hayes, with correct Thunderbird center caps. And the tires are double lined red and white wall, they also appear to have almost no miles on them. The interior of the car is original and in very good condition, it shows somewhere but it’s not torn and presents quite well. There is a new carpet, and the dash pad is perfect. The car is equipped with a factory AM/FM radio, which works perfectly. It also has the optional fold down passenger side seat with integral headrest. I have only driven the car home which was about 15 miles and it performed well went straight ran good and stopped properly. The convertible top has a mind of its own, when I brought the car home I was able to get the top to function correctly and go down and then go off, however several days later the decklid comes up but the top will not retract. I can hear the relay clicking so I’m sure it’s dirty contacts or something of that nature. The engine does not appear to have ever been overhauled, but it does not smoke and has plenty of power. All lights, turn signals, and gauges are in working order as are the windshield wipers and courtesy lamps. I’m sure that after sitting the car will need to be gone through, but it is an excellent start and it was a very expensive restoration at the time it was done. I also have a brand new interior mat and trim kit that goes with the car. Car is located in 20 minutes west of Detroit. Selling as is.
