K&N air cleaner system. with. new aluminized dual exhaust system with Flowmaster dual chamber mufflers. great cooling with a heavy duty aluminum radiator with new hoses and clamps. new alternator. C-4 fresh automatic transmission with shift kit. brand new Borgeson variable Power Steering just installed (LINK). brand new Stainless SteelCorporation dual line GT front disc brakes(LINK). said fresh braking system just checked with the final road test. uprated suspension with tubular chassis supports. adjustable tubular rear traction bars. heavy duty Shelby front sway bar. work just finished that includes the uprated Jensen sound system. new 1968 GT 14x7 correct wheels with center caps and trim rings. has new B. F. Goodrich 215/70/14 radial tires. full running system is checked with lights both running and brakes. front end alignment completed. the brake lights work. new black power top. the floors have had some work and two pans appear to have been nicely replaced. very lightly undercoated and painted black. modern sealed beam headlights. all the chrome bumpers. emblems are new. lower stainless rocker moldings. a really aggressive and clean looking Mustang with Brawny feel and just great bright red color. even the headlights are special T4 flat faced halogen units. a very strong show driver just finished for Summer 2015. copy of 1968 Mustang Brochure (LINK). /p> History: this nice Mustang was found at a classic car sale by Fraser Dante with some of the build started. the knowledge that a lot of work accomplished with such a good start had been completed knowing that further upgrades would yield a great Mustang convertible that would appeal to lots of muscle car lovers of all ages. younger buyers especially love the look and appreciate the strong engine coupled to the automatic transmission and the newly added variable ratio power steering and GT disc brakes. (LINK) the steel around the car is very good and the sides very straight. the floors look most solid. /p> engine: we are told from the initial builder that this is a newly installed ‘347’ stroker engine. this is believed to have less than 2000 on the install. it has a strong and aggressive cam with great sound with settings for amazing low end torque. the compression has just been checked and great dry cold reading compression from 138 psi to 149 psi across (LINK). said readings get higher with driving and getting warm. the engine shows 68 psi at highway cruising speeds. with the low geared rear end that is just right for street performance. according to said information. everything in the whole engine is new. indeed. appears that way from careful check of senior technician who just set the car up. /p> a deep sump oil pan deep sump oil pan for good oiling. has an Edelbrock aluminum intake with a Holley 4v double pumper carberator. unit is the 600cfm from examination. the manual choke makes a system that is easy to start in any weather. anodized motor mounts. see the Ford black aluminum valve covers. has the expensive 3” K&N air cleaner intake double system. the exhaust is setup with full length ceramic coated headers followed by 2 ½” aluminized dual pipes with very mellow and strong sounding Flowmaster mufflers with the 2 ½” pipes. has chrome exhaust extensions to exit. would guess the power of this setup is about 325-350 horsepower area with low end torque and cooling being the objective. the very heavy duty aluminum radiator is used to yield top cooling. this is an expensive 3” Northern aluminum unit install with special aluminum built rear fan cool box. 6 blade flex fan. all new hoses and belts. this engine just ran at 170o in a show venture on a 80o day. just wonderful. nbsp; has a TCI deep transmission aluminum finned pan. the C4 automatic transmission has been set up for manual shifting with shift kit so easy to change gears with the shift level. i. e. . the driver moves from 1st to 2d to 3rd and down the same way. the shift handle is stock and the uprated is a Hurst unit. this is very fun to drive like this along with optimum performance. just like the modern paddle shift cars. nbsp; has a trunk mounted battery system for better weight distribution that is most desirable. heavy duty cables and clamps. has the MSD distributor and full ignition system along with performance spark plug wires. new plugs. full tune completed. billet alternator brackets. chrome alternator and all lighting works. these modern T4 halogen flat faced headlights are new. /p> for safety and protection. for starting. there is a toggle switch for the ignition under the dash. the start switch is a push button. this works well with the special ignition. nbsp; body/trim: the sides are very straight. good lines and very nice luster to the base coat/clear coat paint. great effort expended for just wonderful luster. the lower stainless rocker moldings are added. the heavy Shelby type steel hood with air intake has special rod support. all of the trim and chrome are new. has the GT trim and side badges including the gas cap for great appearance. nbsp; Suspension: has a full new spring and shocks in the suspension package to get the attitude of the car right and make it handle nicely. front 1” Shelby GT sway bar added. in order to make the chassis handle the strong engine. this has the front chrome Monte Carlo bar and the heavy duty Mustang chassis support. note the tubular chassis sub-frame connectors. also adjustable rear tubular traction bars. the nice underchassis has had some work with two floors replaced and very nicely done. very well seamed sealed and then a very light undercoating applied. then nicely painted black for show conditions. see the rear adjustable adjustable control arms. makes for great handling. (LINK) The brand new correct 1968 GT 14” styled steel slotted wheels with full chrome treatment along with trim rings and center caps just installed and look great. then new B. F. Goodrich 215/70/14 radial tires to make this handle well. fresh alignment is done with the final build of this cool convertible. drives just great. with the believed 4:10 rear end. this is set for street performance with expressway testing at about 60 mph just great. /p> Interior: full newer two cup black console. the factory correct shifter with the Hurst linkage is done to make this shift great. newer expensive Jensen AM-FM CD radio. has 6 ½” kick panel speakers. has the uprated wood and aluminum steering wheel. has four safety belts with the front being special Mustang units. the custom red and black bucket seated interior looks great. 4 black safety belts. Mustang special fronts. the black boot matches the interior as it should. all the chrome around the car is new and inside handles that are great. this includes the outside bezels and chrome bumpers are new and really excellent. has added Autometer lower console. new under dash gauges with volt meter. water temperature and ammeter. the gauges in the dash do not work as these added gauges give better and more exact readings. /p> paint and body: simply said. this is really a straight and well presented body. has the Shelby heavy duty hood with hood supports. just wonderful paint that has amazing luster with the base coat. clear coat gorgeous presentation. a great rust free paint presentation. just completed is a full professional ‘finisher’ with an wonderful paint luster presentation (LINK). using modern chemicals and a very soft high speed buffer. our in house technician does a fantastic job in the final buffing. there is virtually show ready for presentation. /p> the trunk has the rear mounted battery with heavy duty cables and clamps where the spare would normally be. again. for better handling. brand new fuel tank with trunk area painted black and then insulation and then trunk cover. /p> all the glass is excellent. very nice chrome/stainless windshield header trim that is hard to accomplish. good seals on the windshield. all the side windows roll up and down well. /p> Summary: here is a really gorgeous paint and body with upgrades to achieve an aggressive looking and great sounding stock bodied Mustang convertible with a terrific engine and equipped for the ‘modern’ driver with automatic transmission. new Borgeson power steering and GT disc brakes.
