Description of 1946 Ford Other

I bought this car a few years ago with the thoughts of making an old-school "Carson top" for it. There is nothing wrong with the canvas top. I just have always admired the 50's custom Carson top cars. I ended up not having much time to use or enjoy with other projects going on in my life. so I figured this should go to someone who will enjoy it. I have four cars older than 1950. just don't have the time for them all with everything going on in my life right now. I am basically selling this for what I have in it. and that should make a very good deal for someone. The Good: -THE PRICE! I am just looking to get out what I have in it. I bought it for about $10k. Go look at what the other Ford Convertibles are going for here on eBay. nbsp; $20k. $30k. $50k asking prices. -The body is in excellent condition. There is one minor scratch near bottom rear wheel on the fender. way down low and not very noticeable. - Paint is flat/matte black. It is in good condition but the drivers front fender does show fade from sun? The paint job is NOT a "rattle can" spray job. and gets great comments everywhere I go. - Good running chevy V8 Engine. 327 is what I was told. Aluminum HD radiator keeps it cool. - Leather seats are in good condition. not perfect. but very comfortable and nice. They are out of a Cadillac. - Has radio deck in the glove compartment and speakers. It is a used deck. works fine. - Tires are in good condition. - Good battery. - Drives and rides nice. Track straight. It will easily go faster than you should ever in this car! - Fairly rare car. don't see many 46 fords at the car shows. hardly ever a convertible or a custom. Making a proper Carson top and doing a bit of customizing and you will probably have a car 6x the price I am asking. - Clean Arizona title. Clear. VIN tagged/inspected by the state. You should get registration and plates for it the minute you buy it without hassle. - Odometer shows 55k miles. It is hard to tell with a car this old if that is original miles. but I have been in and under this car. and I would have to say due to the shape everything is in. those probably are close to original miles. *Note: engine is newer and unknown miles - Dual exhaust sounds great. Not to loud. not quiet. Perfect to me. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Video from this weekend driving: https://vt. tumblr. com/tumblr_nnfq56vfVD1u9ran5. mp4 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Issues: - Passenger windshield has a crack in the lower right corner - Speedo had always worked until this weekend when I went to take photos. It bounces now and sometimes goes to zero when you are driving. Not sure what happened. probably the cable. - Breaks are original style. They are weak compared to modern cars. Take this in mind when driving to give extra room to stop. Retrofitting modern disk brakes with a kit is available and it is pretty affordable and a good way to gain safety. - Throw-out bearing in the transmission makes a squeal sometimes when starting from a stop. I am told it needs a shim or something. It doesn't happen all the time. and when you get use to driving it. you will learn the proper clutch release timing to not have the squeal. - I probably only drove it 200 miles in the last year. It sits in the garage waiting for me to drive it. I did notice (2) dime sized spots on the floor when I pulled it out. One is grease from a steering joint that was over greased. the other looks like engine oil. I do run it every month for 20-30 minutes and keep fuel stabilizer in it. - Conversion was or a cruiser/show car. There are no roll-up side windows. the slots have been filled in cleanly. If you have the top on. there are 4 vinyl windows that attach to make it weather proof while driving. One could find replacement doors with windows if you wish to add the roll up side windows again. - It retains the factory 3-on-the-tree transmission and rear drive train. This is an old-school V8 conversion and you should take it easy on the original trans. It works fine. but it was made for an engine with 1/2 of the torque. If you want an automatic or a 5 speed. this would need to be addressed. . ================================================================================== Terms: Sold AS-IS. This is an old car. It is a hotrod. It is FUN. You are welcome to schedule an inspection ahead of time. I have been honest with everything I can think that is good or bad with the car. It is pretty basic. the photos tell most of the story. USA domestic buyers only please. International buyers contact me BEFORE bidding. I would caution. that I only take it on 20 mile trips around town. It will do freeway speeds easy. Just watch your stopping distance with those drum brakes. Drive it home at your own risk/adventure.
