1953 GMC Rust Free TruckThis is a strikingly beautiful 1953 GMC truck. It is a 9700 3 ton truck with a 179 inch wheel base. We were told by the previous owner that this truck was used as a fire support truck in Canada. The mileage was claimed to be original at 18675. The current bed was installed by the previous owner when the truck was re painted. The gauge cluster along with the other interior items are all original, nd are in excellent condition lending credence to the low original miles. The paint code is listed at FC66. I cannot find a matching color for the code. I am believing that FC stands for fire car. If anybody knows for sure I would be happy to amend the eBay listing. I will do the best I can to outline the condition of the truck below. If you have questions please call me. I can take a look at the truck and answer questions.Body: The body has been painted within the last few years. The truck came to me with oxidation, ut it buffed beautifully. The paint is a single stage enamel. All of the trim and the chrome is in excellent condition. The White paint on the grill is also single stage. There is no evidence of rust. There is a dent on the top of the roof above the window. It is 12 inches by 2 inches. It looks like a garage door hit it. The truck has a bit of orange peel. If it was color sanded it would be like glass. The wood bed is very well built. I had polyurethane painted on and it looks great. The plate next to the vin has been rubbed off. What remains is the GVW which states 17500. Chassis: The chassis is rust free, nd very original. I painted it, ut I have pictures of it prior to the detail. It looked great. The suspension is very stiff, ut i assume it always was. The wheel cylinders are dry and the brakes work great.Interior: The interior appears very original. The shift boot is the exception. I have detailed it to look as clean as possible, ut I can say it looked great before I started. The radio has been converted to an FM, nd it works well. The cost of this conversion was 700 dollars. The gauge cluster is original and it looks new as does the dash, eat, eadliner, nd floor again no sign of rust.Motor and Transmission: the motor and transmission look totally original. The wiring harness is also the original fabric and it's in great shape. There appears to be some electrical work on the firewall repairing the older wiring. The engine starts on the first turn. The transmission shifts perfectly. The clutch grabs right as you let out. The truck does not over heat even in our scorching heat. We have painted the transmission, ut it was not rebuilt. Tires: The tires are very old. The date code is from way back in the 80's. They have little no wear, ut they are cracking.
