Description of 1956 GMC Other

One of a kind 1956 GMC 950 Semi Tractor with late model Kenworth sleeper. Lots of Pro Tech aluminum and custom stuff everywhere. All power components replaced including engine, ransmission and rear end. The motor is a 1979 Cummins Big Cam Cummins, he desirable full flow coolant system model. Motor is fast and runs strong and was grafted in with cleanly modified firewall and interior hump, ike in vans. You can't tell it is not the factory power plant. Rear end gears are stump pulling 4:10's. Starts right up, egardless of outside or engine temperature or how long it has sat. Hydraulic Integral power steering. All lights work, ir horn is loud. Aftermarket heater works good. Peterbilt 24.5 aluminum wheels with new tires, eterbilt air ride seats, ncluding passenger. Interior is all new, rom headliner to carpet. Interior including dash, s painted the same red as the exterior. This truck has not pulled a trailer or driven in the winter since being put together. Has aprox 300 miles since it was built. Wheels look like they were installed yesterday; no pits or road rash at all. Sleeper is modern with T.V. shelves, rawers, tc. I have an original, lawless sales brochure (not a copy), or the 1956 950 model GMC that will go with it. Even has a rear 2"receiver hitch. Over $40,000 invested and hundreds of man hours. Have clean title in my name.

The negatives are:

- A/C compressor and bracket (that I have) need to be installed and hooked up to the a/c hoses in sleeper unit. IT is hot to drive in the summer months. Also, ower needs to be run to the sleeper as well.

-This is uncomfortable to drive long distances due to the size of the cab and not having air ride suspension. Not sure how they did it in the old days! If you are looking at using this daily, riving long haul, hink again. This is a show or local truck.

- I've been told the Trans is okay and normal, owever it seems to make growling noises. I've been told it is because it has straight cut gears. I had the trans oil changed looking for contaminates, ut it was clean. It makes more noise than a modern 10 speed. It is an older 10 speed that shifts into 9th and 10th differently than current 10 speeds.

- It has an engine oil leak around the pan.

- The windshield wipers do not work.

- The factory fuel tank on the drivers side has some waves in the aluminum.

- Sliding 5th wheel air lock ram does not activate, an't slide the 5th wheel.

- No steer axle brakes, hich is how it was back in 56'. Totally legal.

- The paint appears thin on the sleeper when in direct sunlight.
