Description of 1950 GMC Other Stake body (wood railing - needs metal replaced)

Does this truck remind you of the truck you of what you grew up with or your grand fathers truck? This is an original! I purchased this truck from my wife's great uncle (uncle Johnny) in Oak Hill West Va. in 1989 and uncle Johnny's father was the original owner so it's been in the family since 1950. He purchased it in 1950. The mileage is the original miles as they just used the truck to bring in the apples and hay on the farm. They kept it in the barn when it was not being used so there is very little rust. I have the original split rim wheels and the tires on them were put on in 1960 (and they are still holding air if you can believe that - pretty amazing). I purchased a spare back and front tire in 1993 that fit on the split rims from a tire company (so 6 tires total for split rims) that was having a little trouble selling them. not a lot of market left at that time. I have not driven the truck hardly at all so the miles are accurate. Things I have done to the truck:1) Changed the valves so you could run unleaded gas in it (got tired of adding lead with every gas take fill up) - had the engine painted at the same time. 2) Changed the electrical system to 12 volts vs. 6 volts. Made it easier to start and brighter headlights3) Had it repainted in 1993 outside and inside (there is some small paint chips with a little rust on the door edges etc. 4) New gas tank - rusted out over the years5) Rebuilt the original starter6) New radiator7) Had the seats redone8) Put different rims and tires on the truck as not many places work on split rim tires anymore9) New paper on the gauges inside10) New battery. plugs. wires etc. 11) New water pump when the radiator was replaced. 12) Stake body. Had the wood for the rails and bed redone and was going to have the metal redone for the bed but never got around to it. I have all the original pieces except the front right corner - the guy that painted it lost it. It is a rounded piece but you can have the bed done pretty inexpensively. Just have them match it to the bed and the stake railings. Some of the railings have turned grey over time and I started sanding them but have not finished. 13) Replaced emergency brake cable and odometer cable (original odometer and actual miles)The truck is a 4 speed. shifter on the floor. One very low gear (called a granny gear) and 2. . and reverse. It has a starter pedal on the floor and a long hand brake in the center. It has the original heater box under the dashboard on the passengers side. It is the original transmission and no known problems with the motor or transmission. Almost everything is original. The truck starts normal and drives normal. This is a very rare truck as I have watched ebay for many years for another one like it and they just are not available. The good thing is if you need parts. they are still readily available. Another interesting note is you could take the cab and engine and put on a Chevy pickup frame (to my knowledge it has the same bolt patterns) and put a pickup bed on the truck if you want to change it from a stake body to a normal pickup truck. Thank you and send any questions you may have.
