Description of 1992 Honda Civic VX

Hi there, am selling my 1992 Honda Civic VX with only 163k miles. I purchased it 2 years ago with 103k miles. It is in excellent mechanical condition. I am a commercial pilot and maintain my cars the same way I do my airplanes. I have spent close to $2k in parts and labor on my VX and have the receipts. I also have the maintenance receipts from the previous owners and they total to $4,142. The timing belt and water pump were changed at 90k miles. The transmission and brake fluid were also changed at the 90k service. Here is a list of the parts that I have replaced: 2 Mogue front wheel bearings ($90), Timken rear hub bearing assemblies ($120) , 2 sensor ($350), istributor (Napa $160), istributor cables (Bosch $35), spark plugs (NGK $30), lternator (Napa $130), erpentine belt ($20), nterstate battery ($110). I have changed the oil every 3k miles with Castrol 5w-30.
The honda civic vx was only made for 3 years from 1992 to 1995. The VX still ranks in the top 10 list of most fuel efficient cars. The problem with buying a used VX is that most of the used ones for sale only get around 35 mpg. A big reason for this is that the VX's o2 sensor tends to go bad after 125k mi. A new OEM o2 sensor from the honda dealership is $350! A few other parts that can lead to bad gas mileage are the alternator, istributor, istributor cables, nd the spark plugs.
My VX gets 48 mpg on the highway and 42 mpg in the city. I replaced my o2 sensor with an OEM one at 132k miles. My vx should require very little maintenance for the next 100k miles.
To my knowledge the car has only been in one minor accident where the front fender was repainted. The receipt in my records says it happened in 1999 and the total repair was $471. There is some rust starting in both of the rear wheel wells. I painted over it to slow the rusting and make it look better. You can see from the pictures that on each of the rear wheel wells there is a rectangular area of mismatched paint where it looks like a previous owner had some rust repair body work done in the past. The underside of the car has been undercoated. There is some light hail damage on the car. There are a few scratches and minor dents, ut overall the outside of the car is in very good condition for a 20 year old car.
I am selling my VX because it is a manual and I have been having some shoulder problems. It has been a very reliable and fun car to own. The transmission is still strong and it shifts in and out of each gear like it should. On the interstate at 70 mph, f you take your hands off the wheel, t will drive straight and not veer off to either side. The engine runs great. The AC blows cold. Everything on the car works. The only problem I can think of is that you can not lock the drivers door from the inside. It has to be locked with the key from the outside. It is a minor inconvenience. The custom front seat covers, pare tire, ack, ool kit, wners manual, aintenance receipts from day 1, nd spare bearings are all included.
The winning bidder needs to make a $300 deposit by Paypal or Wire Transfer within 48 hours. The remainder of the sale amount is due within 7 days. I accept cash or wire transfer only for the remainder. Please only bid if you are a Serious Buyer! The winning bidder is welcome to pick the car up in person. I can pick you up from the Des Moines International Airport (DSM). The winning bidder can also ship the car, ut is responsible for the shipping arrangements. I can deliver the car within a 30 nautical mile radius of Des Moines to the shipper. The car needs to have been paid for in full before drop off to the shipper. Thank you for looking!

Hi, wanted to answer a few questions that I have got:
1. Has the car ever been smoked in?A. No.
2. Is it a clean title?A. Yes.
3. What condition are the mats in?A. The drivers mat is worn, ut the other ones are in good condition.
The original owner was a university professor and I can tell from his maintenance records that he spent a good amount of money maintaining his VX. He owned the car from 1992-2009. He sold the car to his friend who also took good care of it. It has always been garaged. I bought it from the friend in 2013.
The problem with buying a used VX is that most of the ones for sale, ave been abused by one or more previous owners. The thing that makes a VX valuable is the condition of the engine. The engine in my VX is still strong, ecause the car has always had regular oil changes. It does not leak any oil. All it would take to ruin this engine is one or two missed oil changes. If a VX has had 5 or more owners there is a big chance that it has been abused and will not get the 50 mpg that the engine was designed for. You do not want to buy a used VX unless the previous owner has all of the maintenance receipts.
This is the ideal car for someone who drives more then 10k miles a year and has to deal with snow in the winter. I was surprised by how well this car handles in winter driving. The combination of front wheel drive, low center of gravity, nd narrow tires give the driver lots of control when turning on snowy or icy roads. The problem with the Prius and a lot of other fuel efficient cars is that they have horrible handling in the snow. The problem with the TDI is that the price of diesel fluctuates too often and they do not run well in the winter.
In the last 2 years I have driven this car 60k miles! I have saved a little over $4,000 in gas versus driving a 25 mpg car! With gas hovering around $3 this car is one of the best solutions for a fuel efficient car.
Please ask if you have any questions.
Thank You

This would be a great car for business owners or employees who have to drive a lot for their jobs every year. One of the things that I liked about this Civic VX was that it was very low profile. There were a few times that I forgot to lock it and had thousands of dollars worth of flight gear in my car. Thieves do not expect you to have money. I also found that the police were less likely to give me a speeding ticket in my VX versus cars I have had in the past.

Thank You
