Description of 1988 Honda CRX

This car is perfectly set up to be your next weekend-and-autocross toy. It's an '88, o it's about 100lbs lighter than the 89 model and nearly 200lbs lighter than the 91's.
The B20/VTEC engine is a hybrid: B20B block from a ’99-’01, ith a GSR head. The swap was done properly, y a knowledgable PO, nd the engine runs perfectly; no CEL, nd all gauges work properly.
The transmission was originally mated to a B16. I believe it’s one of the “Y”-series cable transmissions. No LSD, hich can be a slight issue on the track, ut is no problem on the street.
A big plus of the B20/B16 engine/trans combo is that the short gearing of these transmissions, n combination with a more powerful engine, ake the car even more fun for everyday use. It’s amazingly responsive; 40-70MPH pulls are a blast! 80MPH in 5th gear comes at 4200RPM, o there are no issues with highway cruising.
Mechanically, t’s essentially perfect. Starts every time, oesn’t overheat even under hard use, oesn’t leak or burn oil or coolant. All shifts are smooth - no grinding or difficulty getting into any gear. In short, t has no current issues AFAICT. A while back I had it checked at LHT performance; they installed a new hi-flow Walbro fuel pump, nd found no lurking potential problems.
Cosmetically, t’s nothing special, ut since it’s been a Florida car since at least 1994, t is rust- and rot-free. It has dents and dings, ut not so many that you’ll be embarrassed to be seen in it. The interior is ugly, ut functional, nd (by CRX standards) far from being trashed. The paint is a bit worn and faded, ut it’s all one color, ncluding the engine bay. It does have one nice cosmetic feature; the wheels are from a ’99-00 Civic Si. I think they really improve the car’s look.
I love this car! Am selling it to cover some unexpected expenses, ut will miss it when it's gone :(
NOTE: This car has a Florida “Rebuilt” title. What happened (as best I understand it) is that it was in an accident that did enough damage to the body panels that the insurance company totaled the car rather than paying for repairs. This is common for old Hondas since their "book values" are very low, nd particularly for CRXes since insurance companies consider them to be Civics. In any case, part from the dings shown in the pics, ou wouldn’t guess from driving it that it had been in an accident. It pulls straight and true through curves, as no funny noises, tc.
