Selling this for a friend, he recently bought a house, the seller was going out of the country and had no use for this del sol that he had owned for about 8 years so he included it in the sale of the house! My friend also has no use for it so he asked me to help him sell it.
This is a two owner car! We have a folder of all the receipts of every service done to the car at a honda dealer up to 110k miles including an original window sticker and radio code card + owners manual etc.... We also ran a carfax and it verified everything we were told, car has zero wrecks or mileage issues. This has been a southern car its entire life originally sold in South Carolina and it stayed between South Carolina and Georgia its entire life. Which explains why the undercarriage is super clean, a little red clay residue that could be pressure washed off but not a single spot of rust anywhere on the car and no dents or scrapes to the undercarriage. To be fair it has been sitting at this house for quite some time but it is in pretty damn good shape for its age. See all of the details below.
Interior: Interior wise it is in pretty good shape, asside from the heel pad missing and the couple of tears in the thin drivers seat fabric it is basically un-damaged. All of the gauges work, the radio works, the A/C blows cold! The heat works too, all of the controls work fine, and the targa top pops on and off no issues though the left lever has to be tightened up every now and then. No water leaks that we have seen. The carpet is in decent shape, the shift boot could probably be replaced and there is a crack in the trim around the drivers door handle. All of the other lights work, the glove box needs a new latch it will not stay closed on its own. The rear storage compartments behind the seats are clean and functioning just fine as does the gas door lid release. The rear window does not roll down, not sure why, haven't checked fuses or anything. The front windows go up and down great, no cracks in the dash, and no cracks in the windshield in your view or really at all from memory. Cleans up nicely could be even better with a professional detail. The trunk is in good shape it is missing the original spare but it has the jack/tools. The targa top holder works great.
Exterior: Exterior wise it has obviously spent its fair share of days outside but the paint is all original. Car has never been wrecked, but they did back it into something which hurt the right corner of the rear bumper but otherwise has no significant damage. A few dings on each panel as it was a daily driver at one point but all the panels line up good. The hood, trunk, doors, targa top, etc... all work like they should. The drivers door handle you have to lean into it to get it to open common honda problem, easy trick once you learn it (security system bro). The clear coat is a little faded on the hood, roof, trunk like every other honda this old that isn't a museum piece. All of the lights work fine, trunk struts work great, wipers work, fog lights work, front bumper isnt busted up, this car was obviously taken care of. Power antenna doesnt work. Zero rust and no wrecks, a great starting point for any project.
Mechanical: Mechanically the car drives fine, I was surprised how great it drove for how long it has been sitting. Original owner had it for 15 years and we have all those receipts, second owner had it for another 8 or so he didn't keep records but took care of it. The A/C blows cold and the heat blows hot. The transmission shifts great no grinds though the pilot bearing does make some noise, clutch works great. Brakes could use some new rotors up front but work just fine, just have a little vibration. Alignment could be done to be perfect but honestly I would have no issue driving this car to california right now. The tires are BRAND NEW Toyo tires, nice name brand stuff and they all match. They are old but new, not dry rotted either. The suspension and steering are tight, no warning lights on other than the check engine light which comes on randomly, no idea why because it runs great. Engine fires right up no matter what even on 2 year old gas. I threw a bottle of seafoam in the gas tank for the fun of it, under hard acceleration it will smoke greyish black not sure if that is just from sitting forever have only put 10-20 miles on it, or from the seafoam, or just old ass ethanol gas that has absorbed water. Engine doesn't tick, knock, leak, or even come close to overheating. It stays well under half on the temp gauge no matter what you do. But like I said it has been sitting for awhile could probably use some basic stuff. I did put new wires, cap, rotor, and plugs just because it is literally the easiest engine ever to work on. It was legitimate fun. This is a legit Del Sol Si so it has the SOHC VTEC D16Z6 engine, and it pulls strong! Engine sounds great at redline (yes I also did an oil change). It is all stock and original, has never been modified. Like I said I would drive it to california right now comfortably in the A/C or with the top down. Just look at the engine bay, the undercarriage is similar.
Thanks for looking any questions just ask! All proceeds go to our dobermans since they are spoiled ass dogs and basically take all of my money anyways. So just understand your purchase of this car will mostly go towards entertaining a red male doberman that owns our ass financially and emotionally.
