Description of 1961 International Harvester Scout

Completely restored with the body off, ngine out and rebuilt show quality Scout 80. This Scout is a very low serial number with the half cab and bulkhead. Scouts were introduced in 1961 originally intended to be a small pickup for the small family farm. Released into production with the 152 ci slant 4 cylinder that is all IH. The motor is exactly half of International's popular and bulletproof 304 v-8 engine, haring the same bearings, rank, lockand pistons. These little engines were workhorses and built for longevity.
This Scout has had the body removed completely along with the engine, rans, transfer case and frame blasted, ainted, ody mounts renewed, uffler replaced and sheet metal with any problem areas replaced with new and primed and painted. It has a 3-speed with the twin stick 4x4 transfercase. Runs like a singer sewing machine, hifts and stops without any issue. All brakes, ines, ardware are in good condition. It has the original spare tire that can be removed when utilizing the rear seat. Rear seat was purchased separately; the seat is not re-covered but could be...it just lifts out to remove. It has a towbar that pins to the mounts on the front bumper; plug in for your lights to plug into the tow vehicle. The Scout's lights become "trailer lights" then when being towed.

The Scout includes a top that has been completely restored at the body shop; however it does not line up perfectly at the window edges. There is topper tape and weatherstripping on the top, nd it may be lifting up the back too much causing the gap...but can't promise that. All the glass is intact and the rare sliding windows have weatherstripping tracks in them as do all the doors and top. You can put the "traveltop" on these Scouts also, o the whole vehicle is enclosed. Tires are in good condition, nd have very rare and expensive turbine caps for it. The caps and tires are 15". Also included with The Scout are the original very hard to find 16" wheels and tires pictured. The rubber is in good condition on all 4 of these and certainly usable. Please feel free to bid with confidence and send your questions. Good luck!
