Description of 1972 International Harvester Scout convertible |
Just in time for the Spring!!! Impress your friends and trail riding gang! this is a completely reconditioned, custom rock crawler that was purchased from a IH clubmember from Kansas that would travel to Colorado mountains for trail riding. ready to drive the best trails - you will be the envy of your gang when you climb the most challenging hills. She's really low geared (max speed about 50mph) so not that good for highway use - its meant to be a trail rider and cannot be stopped by most obstacles - she climbs like no other! Has Military H1 10ply Humvee tires all four in great shape with lots of tread and no deep cuts (spare will need to be replaced). Runs great - has a little surface rust but mostly clean - all custom welded rollbars, cages, boat side, bumpers - clean interior. shipping is buyers responsibility - about 700-800 or so to car carry most of continental US. now a little bit about the custom work: This Scout has been to the RMIHR countless times and has been on most all the trails in Colorado and has never skipped a beat. This is a very capable rock crawler, meaning I crawled over rocks, never fast or spinning the tires out. The Scout has seen countless trails, but never abused. It's been like a family member to me. The list of modifications goes on and on and I have forgotten many of them. This was not a backyard build(not that there's anything wrong with that), this truck was built by a friend of mine who builds buggies for the King of the Hammers participants...and I believe the one who got 2nd last year....100k dollar buggies. Rebuilt 392 fuel injected Scout II Aluminum Radiator(this engine stays at 180 degrees period) Brand new Dana 60's with Detroit Lockers(fully rebuilt and every piece new)/4.88 gears/Custom Mark Williams axles T19 Wide Ratio 4 speed transmission Dana 300 transfer case with a 4 to 1 kit plus 1 ton input and output shafts 37 Goodyear H1 tireswith re-centered H1 bead lock wheels/ will need a new spare tirethese are 10ply military tires you see on military humvee's. Nice heavy duty tall tire jack with custom mount on swinging back bumper. spare tire is gouged out in two places and probably cant be patched. SSII inserts with new SSII doors Rear suspension is a custom 4 Link(coil sprung) with the front being a Scout II spring over lift these are supported by heavy duty plate welded to a re-unforced frame as you can see in pictures Full custom roll cage tied to the frame in various spots Custom hood Custom shock setup with brand new Fox shocks Custom rock sliders built into body (boat sides) Never used Warn 8k pound winch Dual Electric Fan setup in front Custom Kill switch w/ key Custom bumpers (front one will hold air)(rear swing away) front bumper holds air along with a tank behind the passenger seat sufficient to inflate several tires after patching. Hydraulic Assist Steering Much more..... This Scout runs fantastic, it's quiet and very easy on the trails to maneuver. It crawls over anything. The suspension is nice and flexy. It's been a joy to own, but I don't have time anymore. you can call mewith any questions. Scout has about 1k miles since rebuild. sold as is, no returns so please, if you are interested, come and see her and test driver her! |
