Description of 1970 Jaguar E-Type

This is a numbers matching car in great condition. I purchased the car about six months ago after it had been in storage for approximately ten years. Speedometer is showing 4,048 miles but is not working. Fuel system was flushed out and Carburetor's were rebuilt with new floats. Intake and exhaust manifold were removed and media blasted and exhaust manifolds were refinished. While the manifolds were off all the core/freeze plugs were replaced as one was weeping and coolant hoses were also replaced. Valve covers and cross-over pipe have been media blasted and powder coated. When this was done the valve adjustment was checked and is within spec. This is the 9-1 compression engine and the distributor was also reconditioned and new points, ondenser and rotor were installed. Compression on all six cylinders is 150-160 lbs. Brakes were flushed and clutch slave cylinder was rebuilt. Car has a high torque starter and a new battery. This car starts right up and runs great. At some point many of the bushings in the front end were replaced with poly so the car drives and handles very well. The exhaust system is a non-original free-flow system that's in excellent condition. This is a great driver or an excellent candidate for a full restoration given all the original sheet metal which is what attracted me to it initially.

Original color was Primrose Yellow and it appears to have been repainted twice. Current red finish looks great but does have a couple of blemishes one of which is on the boot lid. Car appears to have all original panels and has some minor rust but nothing I would consider at all serious. All the drains under the boot lid are clear and in good working order. The trailing arm mounts are solid and riveted which indicates they are original. The finish is good but not perfect and some of the chrome is tired but acceptable for a driver. The rust issues that I would consider very minor are some bubbles on the passenger side door however the bottom of the door is very solid and in excellent condition. There is also rust under the battery shelf and this is quite normal for these cars and easily and inexpensively repaired. I have another 70 E-Type OTS that I purchased after it had major panel replacement as I was looking for a more original car but at this point I just have too many cars and don't need two of the same model.

Some of the interior carpets on the transmission tunnel appear original but the floor & sill carpeting has been replaced. The leather seats also appear original and are in great shape. Black convertible top is faded but in excellent shape and would look fine if re-dyed which I had planned to do. I have two local individuals interested in the car so I reserve the right to end the auction early.
