Description of 1994 Jaguar XJS

Up for auction is my gently used weekend driver: 1994 Jaguar XJS Coupe with glossy black exterior, lack leather and smoke carpet interior. I am the 3rd owner. The 1st owner purchased the car new and had it serviced thoroughly throughout her ownership at Hornburg Jaguar of Hollywood, A (the oldest Jaguar dealership in the West) and I have a ton of service history from her ownership. The 2nd owner, lso a Los Angles resident, urchased the car at around 50K and still under warranty. I purchased the car at 103K miles in 2013 and immediately spent nearly $5,000 brining the car back into like-new condition (see photos of the extensive mechanical restoration using all OEM Jaguar parts performed by a certified, eteran Jaguar mechanic specializing in XJS restorations). In the few years I've owned the car, 've used it as a weekend cruiser taking it to the Keys and other leisurely road trips around the South. I've entrusted all of the services and upkeep to arguably the most knowledgeable Jaguar-only mechanic in the East, itchell Levine at Jag Repairs in Pompano Beach, L. Anyone who is familiar with Jaguars, nd European cars in general, nows that spending a little more upfront for a well-sorted, ell-maintained car will save you thousands in headaches down the road.

The car drives beautifully. I regularly cruise between 70-90 MPH and it has amazing acceleration and braking power. No vibrations. No leaks of any kind. It rides on almost new (less than 2K miles and over 90% tread reaming) Continental ExtremeContact DW Max Performance tires mounted on machined factory 11-slot 16" wheels (full-sized spare included). It really has zero drivability or mechanical issues whatsoever. The check lights all illuminate and extinguish promptly upon startup. Speed Control (Jag lingo for curse control) works flawlessly. The automatic transmission shifts effortlessly through all gears, nd the car starts perfectly and without any vibration or hesitation. It's one of the smoothest I-6's I've ever driven (it makes my old 5-Series BMW and E320 I-6s feel down right "economy car" rough). All electronics including central locking, ower windows, nd power seats/mirrors work perfectly. The interior is gorgeous and completely original with the original radio, arpet floor mats (front and rear), nd original Connolly leather upholstery throughout, ven on the center console. The original burl walnut veneer adorning the dash, oor panels, nd center console is breathtaking. The car has always been garaged by me and most probably was by the previous two owners as it shows no signs of dash cracks, ading or cracking of the laminated wood. This all-Souther California/Florida car has never seen snow and it 100% rust free. As you can see from the photos of the service records, spared no expense bringing this grand tourer 100% back into specification. I am an OCD car aficionado and carry Meguiar's quick wipes in the trunk of all my cars for immediate removal of bird/tar/sap droppings. The car smells like new, ever smoked in, ever eaten in! My cars are always hand washed (100% of the time by myself or one of two trusted detailers in Miami). The car was just freshly detailed this week including clay bar, olish, nd sealant with all Swissvax products. I had looked for over a year to find this exact make and model in excellent condition. I'm now parting with it and two other cars in my collection due to lack of parking at our new condo. I will miss it greatly but I know it will bring a lot of joy to the new owner.

A few interesting tidbits about this car: This late 1994 build had all of the best features of the '95-'96 series cars like body color bumpers, ual airbags and seatbelt pretensions with force limiters, BS, nd the updated HVAC control panel and Saden compressor (R134), lectronics, nd audio systems (not found in pre-'94 models) BUT maintained the last iteration of the AJ6 engine (notice the integrated oil cap on the valve cover; older pre-'94 AJ6 engines had it sitting out to the LH side), rguably the most reliable inline-6 engine to ever come out of Jaguar and one of the most reliable in the world. It was refined periodically throughout its 10-year history starting after its1984 introduction and culminated with the last AJ6 of the 1994 model year. This engine is considered far more reliable than the short-lived AJ16 engine that replaced it in the '95-'96 XJS vehicles. It has nearly identical performance specs as the more complicated and thirsty V12 models but handles far better due to better weight distribution and lower center of gravity of the AJ6 inline-6 engine. Post-'94 models were also often adorned with a thankfully-confined-to-the-mid-90's, gold package" that really detracts from the sophisticated all polished chrome and polished aluminum trim of this car.

The car has never been in an accident. It was repainted by the previous owner with a high-quality respray in the factory-correct color. There are some scratches (some on the trunk and a few on the RH rear quarter panel) and 2 door dings that I've tried very well to capture in the photos. The dings could be removed easily with a paintless dent removal service. There is a small paint mar caused from too much orbital buffing on the RH rear fender wheel well lip. The only things not working now are the trip meter (gas gauge works perfectly so I've not bothered to send the cluster out for this small repair) and the AC compressor. The AC had worked beautifully (ice cold even in Miami's hottest days of summer) until November when the compressor stopped working. My mechanic at Jag Repairs has given me an estimate of $800-$1,000 to replace it (including factory correct Jaguar/Saden compressor and labor). I will leave this up to the next owner to repair unless you'd like to direct pay Mitchell at Jag Repair to complete this job prior to pick up.

It truly has been an excellent weekend car and gets TONS of stares everywhere goes. The Black/Black Coupe is SUPER rare. Only 237 Coupes (Cabriolets were much more common and were sold 5/1) were imported in 1994 of which very very few had this sophisticated, enacing black/black color combination. Stunning ride. Now is the time to invest in an XJS as their prices bottomed out a couple of years ago and quality examples like this one are quickly increasing in value. Buy now before they go into the stratosphere like all Jaguar coupes before this one have.
