Description of 1954 Jaguar XK

I purchased my XK120 DHC from a friend a few years ago. My friend is 77 years old and his family is the original owners of the car. According to the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate the car was built on June 29. 1953. My friends Father bought the car for his Mother brand new from Hoffman in NYC on October of 1954. I have the original Report of Sale certificate dated October 11. 1954. My friend’s Mom drove the car until 1958 then gave it to my friend to drive. He drove it sparingly until he purchased another car in 1961 then it became his second car. The car is unrestored and retains a lot of its original features with 55. 60 miles on it. All numbers match (chassis. body. engine and gearbox). The chassis is clean and it even retains its original leather gators on the rear springs. The body is in good condition with only a little rust in the bottom of the trunk and front rocker shut panels. The car was originally Battleship grey but was repainted the British Racing Green color it is now a couple of times over the years. The car sat for a while in my friend’s barn so parts of the paint are chipped. faded and cracked. The car still has the original red interior and all its original woodwork. Many years ago the rockers and wood floor boards were replaced with stainless steel panels. I had a lot of mechanical work done to the car within the past 3 years including rebuilding the carbs and a new stainless exhaust system. The whole brake system has been rebuilt including resleeving the original master cylinder and rebuilding all the wheel cylinders. I also had new sway bar bushings and some other front end work completed. The car starts right up on its starter carb (there is no manual override switch) and it runs and drives great. It has a small leak in the steering box which I keep the fluid topped off. The convertible top was replaced a long time ago and it is in pretty bad shape but I rarely ever put it up. The car was originally delivered with steel wheels but was converted to 15” painted E-Type wire wheels around 30 years ago. I also have a set of XK140 60 spoke painted wire wheels for the car with the original size 6. 00-16 tires mounted and balanced. The original parcel box was removed many years ago to make additional trunk space but I have it if someone wants to put it back in. This car would make a great candidate for a light refresh and to use as a preservation driver or it could be restored back to new. Jaguar produced only around 1471 left hand drive XK120 DHCs so this car is fairly rare. It is also very difficult to find an XK120 DHC which is still a pretty original driver and is not either an incomplete rust bucket or a recreated trailer queen. I also have the original owner’s manual. tool kit. jack and original air pump. I also have 2 sets of original Wilmot Breeden keys. I can assist with shipping to anywhere in the world since I am relatively close to the East Coast ports. Connecticut does not title cars older than 1994 so it will be sold with my current registration and a DMV Q1 Assignment of Ownership/Bill of Sale form. I do have a copy of an old title in my friend’s name when the car was re-titled in Connecticut when he moved here from Vermont in 1967. This is the first time this car has ever been offered for sale to the public. Note: the VIN listed in the ebay listing is not the actual VIN because it is not recorded on any of the Jaguar XK tracking websites or databases and this will be up to the new owner if he wants to provide it. If you need any additional pictures please let me know and I can email/post them. I am negotiable on the price and will accept offers based on the terms and conditions and method of payment. Buyer will be responsible for all shipping and transport costs. If you have any questions please call me at 203-994-7881. Please ask any questions prior to purchase/offers. Thanks for looking.
