1966 Jaguar XKE coupe

Here at MissChiTown we are a marketing service on eBay that assists private car collectors to market their collectible vehicles. One of the genres that have been a shooting star in recent times in terms of interest and value have been the Jaguar XKE’s. Certainly the Series I with the covered headlights as seen on this car in this eBay auction, is considered among the most desirable years for XKE’s.

We know that there are some that prefer a roadster but from our point of view for the true beauty of an XKE you need the hard top to give it the beautiful silhouette outlines. As Mr Ferrari said when he saw his first XKE that in his opinion it was the most beautiful car that was ever made…that is certainly saying a lot from a man that to that time had seen every beautiful car and had himself produced some gorgeous Ferrari.

The private seller has told us that he has owned this car for over 25 years and that due to the fact that he hasn’t had time to enjoy the car has determined that it is time to find a new caretaker for this 1966 Jaguar XKE 4.2 liter coupe. When the owner of this car purchased it many years ago he took the car in to be inspected by a professional mechanic who stated that from the wear and tear he believed the mileage on the car to be original. That is why the private seller says he believes the 55,478 miles showing on the odometer to be original. The 4.2 liter and manual 4-speed are also believed to be original, although the owner of this car does not have the Heritage Certificate. The original wire wheels have new tires that probably have less than 1,000 miles on them as they were put on the car about two years go. Over the years the owner of this car has enjoyed many pleasant hours of driving and even took the car on a 700-800 mile trip many years ago. The owner only drives it on short Sunday drives in recent years. The last time he drove the car was last summer and it started, stopped and ran. He says that the engine could probably use a tune up and that the car should probably have a new muffler installed and the rest of the exhaust system checked out. As per the photos the rubber around the windows and doors could be replaced and the antenna needs replaced.

In addition to the new tires a few years ago, the owner installed new brakes and a master cylinder along with a cooling system about five years ago.

THE GOOD NEWS is that this is a fabulous opportunity to get into the XKE market but don’t have the big bucks for a restored XKE and you are prepared to invest the time and energy to bring this 1966 Jaguar XKE coupe back to the condition it should be – this could be the car for you!

In summary, we would say that the XKE’s have been rising very quickly in value and there seems to be no stopping them. Besides all that XKE’s are just one beautiful car that are great fun to drive. Very quick and nimble and always attract a crowd. If you are looking for an XKE coupe this could be the one that would look great in your garage. The reserve on this 1966 XKE is well below market (please don’t ask the reserve) and a wonderful opportunity! We encourage you ask all of your questions prior to bidding and we prefer phone calls 847-774-4857. We try to answer all questions promptly. Thank you for looking!
