We purchased this XJ6 from a new car dealership where it was traded in. The 42k original miles checks out as actual according to Autocheck. it shows the XJ as being 2 original owners and 0 accident history. The records we received show the 2 owners to be a mother and her son. The mother purchased it in her 70's as a retirement present to herself because she had always wanted a Jaguar. Sadly. when she passed away her son inherited the car and kept it up until he could not take care of it anymore and traded it in. This car was more than a car to its owners. it was a reward for a lifetime of hard work and it shows as such. We have driven this Jag for the last 100 miles and it runs and drives very well! The 4. 0L engine runs strong with plenty of power. There is no abnormal smoke at start up or once warmed up. The engine starts right up on the first try. The engine bay was not detailed as to not disturb any electrical components and so the buyer could see the state it was in when we got it. It sounds great as well with no knocks. ticks. or other strange noises. The automatic transmission shifts as it should. Mechanically this XJ is in good condition. The engine and transmission are 100%. There are 3 warning lights on in the instrument cluster. they are shown in the pictures. At least one of them. possibly two. are for a burned out bulb. I do know that the front fog lights are burned out and need bulbs put in so that should clear up at least one of the lights. One turn signal bulb is intermittent as well which could also be causing the light. The brakes stop the Jag smooth and straight and are in great condition with no shakes. vibrations. or noises. The front struts both are clunking/rattling. it could be a mount. bushing. or the struts. They ride good though and don't bounce so it may be the mounts or bushings. The rest of the suspension components appears to be in good condition - no rattles. no suspension noise. no vibrations. no shakes. The alignment is good. The 4 matching Michelin 205-70-15 tires all have great tread but have dry rot cracks from age. Overall. this vehicle drives great for its age and how you would expect it to with such low mileage. Exhaust has a small leak and is slightly louder than it should be but perfectly drivable. The under carriage appears to be in good shape. As far as the exterior goes the XJ is in exceptional condition for its age. The paint shines well and the body is straight. There is very few dings if any and no major dents at all. There is very minor rust in a few spots that is shown in the pictures below. Its a great looking combination with the silver paint and all of the chrome. From my research it appears all the chrome was an option. The mirrors. grill. emblem. and all the window/door trim is chrome. All of the glass is in great condition with no cracks on the windshield. The antenna mast is missing. The car has the dealer added on chrome wire wheels which are absolutely stunning on this body style of Jag. Apparently a $4000. 00 add on back when they were new!The interior is finished in a very beautiful light grey leather that is in above average condition. Accented by real wood grain trim that is all in very good shape with very little cracking or splitting. All that is set off by a BEAUTIFUL Ed Nardi wood grain steering wheel. This was also a dealer add on that had originally cost over $1000. 00. These steering wheels are on Ebay with buy it now options of over $900. 00! There is almost no wear to speak of whatsoever on any of the leather. The dashboard has no cracking or splitting. The headliner has come detached from the roof panel and is sagging and needs to be redone. It is currently held up by a piece of wire and plastic that goes from one side to the other. Makes it drivable so it doesn't sag on your head. The climate control works well and blows air on all blower levels and wherever you want it to (vents. defroster. etc). and the heat works as well. AC has not been tested as it is in the teens here at the moment. although it sounds like the compressor comes on when you hit the button. The power windows all work. It has the optional power front seats and they work in all positions. The car is equipped with a dealer installed alarm/keyless entry and it and the power locks do not seem to work. It is equipped with cruise control that I have not tested. It also has the automatic seat belt option and they work fine. The stereo works as it should. All of the gauges read properly and there are no abnormal readings except for the gas gauge. It does not read properly and always seems to say 1/4 tank. The spare tire is present in the trunk. The car has one key and fob and comes with lots of original documentation/service manual/and other odds and ends that came with car when new. including the Jaguar fog light covers for the Cibie fogs!Overall this Jag is an exceptional find. Driving it down the road gives you a feeling that newer luxury cars just don't. You feel like you are on your way to have tea with an old friend. or headed to the country club for a drink and a cigar. It's a really neat car that will please a collector or a hobbyist. A Jag enthusiast will enjoy it or someone just looking for something neat to cruise around in on the weekend. Its a great platform to tinker with on the weekend as it only needs minor work taken care of. I wouldn't have any worry about driving it home a long distance but the car does need to be caught up on maintenance to make it really roadworthy. It has obviously been sitting/stored most of its life so fluids and tires need to be addressed.
