Description of 1977 Jaguar XJ12

1977 Jaguar XJ12 Sedan This Jaguar XJ12 has a smooth running engine and drives well. It was parked outdoors for a while but rescued before the elements had a chance to claim it. It has had one previous owner since 1998 and the odometer reads 29. 27. We can't confirm that this is the actual mileage. but the condition of the car leads us to believe that it could be. We rescued this XJ12 because there is way too much going for it to consider parting it out or scrapping it. In spite of being left out in the cold for a few years. this car retains its factory original presence. right down to the Dunlop Elites as equipped by Jaguar. The engine. transmission and differential all function as they should. The interior is still in nice shape (back seat area lovely. some wear on the front seats. a little crazing on the wood dash) with good carpeting. good door panels. a great headliner and a very good dash pad. The body and frame are straight and free of rust. and a repaint of the trunk lid and the roof could bring back the finish. The car was parked because the front brakes were out. We replaced them and cleaned the fuel delivery and some other things up and this Jag was back on the road. A quick inventory of the electrics shows that all the gauges function (oil pressure at 40+ lbs while driving. temperature staying on the cool side). with headlights. blinkers. interior lights. wipers. and heater fan all working. The front power windows operate. The rear windows and the power door locks look like they would operate if the mechanisms in the doors were lubricated. The hood closes properly. the trunk closes properly. the doors sweep shut with that gentle Jaguar thunk. The glass is good. the chrome is very good. all the badging is there. Surface rust under the front carpets. no perforations. and no other evident corrosion. Trunk floor is rust free. no spare tire but the complete jacking equipment and bag as supplied. The trunk area carpeting and paneling is in excellent condition. The front suspension could probably use a rebuild. no doubt the rubber has deteriorated. and the exhaust keeps the motor quiet but exhibits some rattles. There will likely be other needs. This is a vintage XJ12 and hardly perfect. It's going for not much money and looking for an owner who knows and loves old Jags. someone who can tinker with it. give it a well-deserved home. and help end Jaglessness. We have a large inventory of spare parts for this and other Jaguars models at very reasonable cost. Shipping available nationally or internationally.
