350 V-8 Jeep Wrangler

This is a 1989 body and frame. The odometer currently reads 176,044. At 125,000, a 350 V-8 Chevy crate engine was dropped in along with a 400 automatic transmission with cooler. The engine has headers, 4bbl carb, electric fuel pump and dual exhaust with glass packs. A posi-lock system is installed on the front hubs for easy switching to 4WD. It has power steering and brakes. I have installed a new radiator with a 3000cfm electric fan and a lower radiator hose heater for easier starts in the Winter. The drive line angle is perfect with no leaking around the transfer case gaskets. There are no leaks anywhere, the Jeep will not leave spots on the driveway. The engine does not use any oil. It starts and runs fine.

The interior is in good shape, the seats are especially good. I have always used seat covers on the front. Some of the dash lights don't work. I don't know if they are burned out or not hooked up but all the necessary stuff works to pass inspection. The radio does work but it is hooked to the speakers that came with the body and I couldn't hear them over the engine anyway so I leave it off. No A/C but the heater and fan work very well.

The body is in good shape, no rust spots. A few dings here & there as to be expected but all minor cosmetics. The tires are also in good condition. The hard top is fiberglass and there are no leaks or cracks. The headliner is carpet and we had a hail storm that caused the glue to loose it's grip and I just rolled it up over the front roll bar. It could easily be glued back down but it wasn't an issue with me. It also comes with a full length bikini top that is practically new.

Please note: this is a fully carbureted machine. Those of you under 40 years old may not know what that means. There is no electronic ignition, no fuel injection, no ECM. There is not a computer chip anywhere. The spark plug wires run to a distributor with a rotor bug in it. You'll need to dust off your old tools and make sure your timing light works to do any repair work. This was built by a guy that had an affinity for the old muscle cars of the 60's & 70's but wanted something fun to play with. This is not a practicle vehicle. It is a toy. The best fuel milage I have ever got out of this thing is around 10mpg (70mph on the interstate taching at 2700) but realistically, 8mpg is what you should expect. All the gauges work but the fuel gauge gives false readings ( I suspect because of the pump) so I just use the trip meter on the odometer and fill it up when it gets around 80 miles. It has a 12 gallon tank.

I am not an off road enthusiast so I have not taken it 4-wheeling but you certainly have enough power to do so. I get more fun out of putting around town and watching people scratch their heads trying to figure out why their eyes ain't seein' what their ears are hearin'.

Extras include a tow bar, a new set of side mirrors I never installed and the original flywheel fan.

I'm selling it because the wife wanted a new SUV and I really don't have a need for a 3rd vehicle. If you want a fun buggy you can jump in & go, this is for you. If you want all the lights & gadgets to work, you'll have to fiddle with it a little.
