Description of 1985 Jeep CJ CJ-7 Laredo

For pure off-roading fun. there's still only one Jeep. Vehicles like this ultra-clean CJ-7 have been a staple of having fun in the mud and on the beach or trail for decades. and even with all of today's technology and performance. a Jeep is still the benchmark of off-road prowess and performance. Finding an all-steel CJ that hasn't been bashed to death on the rocks. or eaten alive by rust is no easy task. yet this black Laredo shows off its original bodywork with pride. This Jeep has been restored with loving care and particular attention to every detail both inside and out. The black paint has been wet-sanded and double waxed for an ultra rich. deep finish that will look great on or off-road. Note the special rocker panels not seen on your everyday Jeep - those are a special factory option that give it an additional distinctive look. The body is straight and completely rust-free. The hood features chrome latches and hardware along with chromed mirrors. bumpers and rear bumperetts. A tow hitch mounted out back gives you a provision to pull a light trailer or even a motorcycle hauler so you can always have all your stuff with you on your adventure. Up front there's a set of high output fog lights. a diamond plate aluminum frame cover and polished stainless grille with black trim. The fender flares are all-new and cover the stock chrome wheels that look like they've have been kept clean and polished since day one! ) and are in excellent shape. This one-of-a-kind specimen rolls on 31x10. 50LT Goodyear Workhorse All-Season Radials with many miles remaining on them. and the chrome wheels look great against the stunning triple-black paint scheme. This Jeep is always stored indoors and covered. never outdoors in the weather and looks better than the day it came off the assembly line. Inside. it's rugged and basic. and the triple black theme continues. The black vinyl high-back bucket seats are comfortable. will hold you securely and are easy to clean. The floor has been covered with a durable liner material for the same reason. but that doesn't mean the CJ is bereft of comfort and convenience features; in fact. this might be one of the more luxurious CJs out there. The dash features a full array of gauges. an AM/FM stereo. and a locking center console for valuables. Other desirable upgrades include tilt steering. and the rarely seen in-dash clock AND tachometer. both of which work and have clear bezels so they're easy to read. Also included is a bikini top (shown) which is great for summertime cruisin' and a set of soft doors and a full top. Power comes from the venerable and highly desirable 4. 2 liter / 258 cubic inch inline six cylinder engine. It isn't designed for all-out speed. but it has plenty of torque to haul you around town or trail. The straight six gives you the trifecta when it comes to engine design: smooth power across a wide range of RPMs (check). great low-speed torque (check) and bulletproof reliability (check). It hasn't been modified with the exception of the upgrade to an aluminum valve cover which. if you know Jeeps is a huge improvement over the leaky plastic stock one. Take one look at the pictures. you don't see an engine bay this clean every day. much less on a Jeep! It has been cleaned and repainted all around to provide an engine bay that is up to par with the flawless body. The wiring is completely intact as well. all OEM parts were used in the restoration and to further show the level of attention to detail given to this Jeep. even the factory jack was reinstalled on its OEM position on the inner fender! Behind the engine. there's a dual exhaust system which adds horsepower and has a deep throaty rumble that sounds like you've got a V-8 under the hood. The drive train features a 4-speed manual transmission. 2-speed transfer case and a Dana30/35 axle combination with manual locking hubs. Power assist hydraulic disc & drum brakes provide plenty of stopping power for this lightweight off-road wonder. As a final note on the mechanical side. this Jeep starts. runs. drives & shifts great; all switches. gauges and options work; it is registered as a Virginia Antique Vehicle and has a current Virginia vehicle safety inspection. If you're looking for adventure. this is the vehicle that'll get you there. The fact that it looks better than it did from the factory. runs great. has all the bells & whistles and tons of detail work done all adds up to a Jeep that's easy to love and will be there for you for many years to come.
