Description of 1988 Jeep Wagoneer

This Wagoneer is in excellent running condition. All power windows, door locks, seats, mirrors and lights work - even the rear tailgate window. The frame and body are rust free. With the exception of two quarter panels, the paint is original and is in very good condition. I don't know why the quarters were painted, but there is no evidence of any accident damage. The interior is in outstanding condition, and the original radio and other components are installed and working. The 4WD works well - including 4WD low.
After driving it for a few months and working up a list of issues that needed work, I handed the jeep over to Cville Classic Cars in Charlottesville, VA and they performed the following during the past six months includes:
  • Repaired inoperative left rear passenger window;
  • The following faulty parts were replaced:
    • Motorcraft carbureter with new
    • engine crankshaft seal
    • transmission and transfer case seals
    • universal joint
    • brake hoses (3)
    • timing cover gasket
    • oil pan gasket
    • front cover seal
    • suspension link kit
    • front sway bar bushings
    • transmission pan gasket and filter (full transmission service)
    • filler neck hose and tank vent hose
    • transmission mounts
    • rear axle bearings and seals
    • radiator bypass hose, thermostat and thermostat housing and gasket,
    • cooling fan switch
    • all vacuum hoses
  • engine oil and filter changed
  • rebuilt transfer case with Dana 44 master overhaul kit
  • drained front and rear differentials and dissassembled, including rear axles, repaired and re-assembled front differential
  • removed and dissasembled transfer case, clean and inspected all parts, replaced worn parts and re-assembled
  • cleaned inside axle tubes, replaced baed rear bearings on rear axles,
  • replaced all drive and accessory belts, applied lubeguard,
  • installed timing cover seal
  • clean and flush transmission cooler and lines and cleaned transmission housing
  • drain, flush, refill brake fluid
  • repair faulty door lock switch and solenoids
  • drain flush refill coolant system
  • repair headlight high beam switch
  • tune and adjust carburetor
  • installed four new tires
This waggy is now in great running condition. I am selling it because I have another one that is more of a 'driver' (read, never ending project). You can guess at the cost of the work listed above - I'm just trying to get out close to whole here.
I can take any additional photos you'd like. The Jeep is in Charlottesville and available for inspection. It is also being driven weekly, so mileage will change.
