Description of 1983 Jeep CJ --

Don't look now, but Jeeps are red hot and we can't seem to keep them in stock. The fun promised by this 1983 CJ7 with hits bright red paint, giant tires, and tidy interior isn't just a promise, and more and more buyers are discovering how much fun it is to go out and play in the dirt. With so many of these being used as intended back when they were new, it explains why they're hot... collectors' items today: there just aren't that many nice ones left. This CJ7 is very clean and straight, having been freshened not too long ago and given the right upgrades to make it fun to drive and great to look at. The vivid red paint seems right for a vehicle that's built purely for fun and given that it prefers to get dirty, it actually looks terrific. Chrome accents on the grille and tubular steps add a little flash, while the black fender flares and minimalist bumpers are pure Jeep simplicity. A factory-style pinstripe encircles the body and it wears correct badges on the sides along with subtle '350' emblems, which we'll talk about in a moment. The interior obviously isn't stock, but someone went the extra mile to not only make it functional, but attractive as well. The two-tone seats are comfortable yet hose off at the end of a day on the trails and the bright red spray-in bedliner is just pure genius. You'll note that someone took their time, as it wasn't just sprayed, but each part was disassembled and everything was quite carefully masked, so the results are above and beyond what you'd expect. There's also a center console that provides some secure storage and a trio of auxiliary gauges under the dash that are a good idea when you're miles from nowhere. Lots of chrome bits add some sparkle to the interior and an AM/FM/cassette stereo provides the non-motorized entertainment. For weather protection, there's a bikini top and a set of half doors, both of which are a big part of the Jeep's minimalist appeal. While a lot of these got by with Jeep's rugged but somewhat slow inline-six, this bright red 4x4 now crawls over rocks thanks to a 350 cubic inch Chevy V8. Not necessarily built for all-out horsepower, the low-end torque it provides is ideal for crawling through the truly rough stuff. However, that's not to say it isn't quick, because on the streets this bright red Jeep will get the drop on much faster hardware if they're not paying attention. The engine bay was obviously fully restored when the CJ was refinished and with a few well-chosen chrome bits, it looks good enough to open the hood every time you stop for gas. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission is linked to the Jeep's 2-speed transfer case and stock axles, so the off-roading hardware is trail-rated. A modest lift allows room for the giant meats and a custom dual exhaust with a pair of Flowmasters makes it sound more like a Camaro than a Jeep. Rugged aluminum wheels wear recent 33x12.50-15 Super Swamper tires that give it the perfect off-road stance. Look through our inventory and you'll see that Jeeps move through here pretty quickly, and when they're as well-finished as this, we're pretty confident it won't' last long. Call today!
