Description of 1991 Land Rover Range Rover County

This is a rust-free 137K original California car which I have fully sorted out over the last several months. Working on Range Rover Classics and other specialty cars is a hobby of mine. The body and frame on this 1991 Range Rover is rust free with only minor surface rust evident on some of the underside from normal chassis road abrasion. It is recommended to have these cars undercoated with Waxoyl or similar Bitumen/wax based undercoating but it is best to acquire them before this is done so you can see the actual condition of the frame. As an original CA car, this is bone dry and free from corrosion with the exception of some of this very slight "surface discoloration" evident on the underside of the chin area and driver's wheel well. Floors and firewall are undamaged. "It's all about thebody" when buying a Range Rover Classic as if they have seen any material wet weather, they likely have rust. This car does is clean and will look fantastic if you opt to either detail or undercoat the chassis. However in its original un-coated condition, it probably has more value to a purist who may want to paint this clean frame. This vehicle was purchased from the original owners from Arkansasin 2015. It was bone stock with all original parts and needed the usual maintenance and the sorting out to address "typical" RR Classic issues that occur. The prior owner installed a TerraFirma spring and shock 2" lift kit and an additional body on frame 2" lift kit for a combined 4" lift and fitted 285/75/16 M/T tires on "Defender Style" steel wheels with Land Rover spindle covers. The engine runs strong and starts with no issues, features a cold air intake system and exhausts through a 3" Magnaflow performance system. Images show the tachometer at "cold start" idling ~ 850RPM and at warm idle ~ 650 RPM. The car starts instantly, idles smooth and steady with no "hunting" common on some of these engines that have not been sorted out. There are no fault lights as the drive train runs properly including the ABS system. Transmission shifts smoothly with no issues. 4WD engages with no issues. The paint appears to be a combination of good original with minor defects and some repaint. The door jamb areas show evidence of some minor “lifting” of the repainted areas, but no corrosion in evidence including firewall, floor, cargo areas and door jambs as seen in the pictures. The interior is original and in excellent shape with exception of the driver’s seat showing some wear and patina as is normal on Range Rovers of this vintage. Additionally, there is a small seam separation on the driver’s seat bolster edge and armrest. Original Range Rover factory rubber mats are supplied along with a Weathertech cargo matt. The air conditioning has been converted to modern 134a refrigerant and blows cold. The exterior roof vinyl has minor shrinkage “tears” that have been filled in with vinyl repair material. There are very minor dents near the driver’s door exterior handle and 2 small creases in the roof which are not visible from street view but shown in the images for disclosure. I am a hobbyist with 25+ years’s experience owning and servicing Range Rover Classics for my personal enjoyment. Upon finishing a car I typically sell it and find another to fully sort and enjoy. This car is ready to be enjoyed and will make a great “weekend/occasional use” or “vacation house” car. As with ANY Range Rover Classic, it is NOT a car that can be expected to be useful on a daily “as needed” basis. These cars can be reliable and fun as long as expectations are realistic. They require attentive maintenance in order to return the enjoyment they provide. (RR enthusiasts call this “charm”. Others call this “tolerating results of poor build quality”. Both are correct!)

Car is located in Stamford, CT and available for pre-purchase inspection which is always a good idea on any car, particularly a Range Rover Classic. I have excellent feedback, know these cars and do not mis-represent items I sell on eBay. This is a special RRC and perfect for the right buyer, but it is a lifted car with large diameter performance exhaust and a "different look" from a bone stock Rover. Will make a great car for the vacation house in the Hamptons, Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket (joining the last 2 RR Classics I sold). I will help arrange transport of the car, but pickup and transportation are the responsibility of the buyer. Feel free to contact me with questions you may have.
