Description of 1991 Land Rover Defender County

1991 Land Rover Defender 110 County 200TDI

VIN SALLDHMF7HA905674

This is a genuine County model, supported by UK V5 (UK title). It has ten seats, but I replaced the front center one for a cubby box with cup holders. The tenth seat will come with the vehicle.

I flew to England and personally purchased the Landy, used a top UK shipping company and US Import Broker. This is a fully legal import, with clear NJ title, in my name, NJ plates, and being stared at as I drive it around New Jersey.

Prior to import I had the British Motor Museum do a full check on the VIN. They have supplied a certificate of authenticity, showing all original numbers match the vehicle. The original certificate will come with the car.

Before moving to the States, many years ago, I served ten years as an aircraft engineer in the Royal Air Force. I have driven these babies all over the world, in every possible conditions. The “Hummm” as you hit 30mph still brings a huge smile to my face.

This is a true original vehicle, brand new 7.5x16 tires, original Philips stereo (with manual in original owner`s folder). It drives like a dream shifting into all gears and ranges through the LT77 gear box, the 200TDI (Turbo Diesel Injection) runs sweet and powerful. The turbo boosts you along at a steady 65mph all day returning around 25mpg.

Right Hand Drive Myth

All pedals, dials, controls and steering are the same as a left hand drive. You sit three feet closer to the footpath and shift with your left hand not your right. Most concerns are driving right hand drive vehicles on right hand drive roads.

This is not a concourse vehicle, but does not have a concourse price. The vehicle is solid in chassis, bulkhead, engine, trans and electrics. It does have to usual Landy flakes, drops and drips which in no way inhibits its beauty or drivability.

Extensive work was done for last MOT (UK annual vehicle inspection) by previous owner. Being an ex-aircraft engineer I got my tools out and sorted the following:

Replaced flashers and side lights with LED units

New Fuel tank, fuel sender and skid plate

New front brake pads and rotors

Refurbished rear wiper motor

New rear sprayer jet

4 new 7.5x16 tires

Steel rims stripped and repainted

New Turbo hose

Fitted Britpart cubby and cup holders

US headlights

Swopped reversing and fog lights to correct sides

Cooling system flushed and re-filled with anti-freeze

Engine oil flushed (and again after 500 miles), oil filter replaced, and refilled with Shell Rotella diesel 15w40 engine oil

New air filter

New driver`s door mirror (old one was cracked)

County graphics reapplied

Shifter and diff lock knobs replaced

Custom front rubber mats

New speaker for stereo (has cassette to smart phone adapter fitted)

New window rubber seals

New rear door card

Bulbs, rear heater, hood release….. all the little stuff.

All parts shipped over from England. (John Craddock, Rimmers etc)

You are bidding to buy, not test drive, inspect, change your mind, don`t have funds and all the other horrors of selling something everybody wants but only wishes they could afford. $1,000 none refundable deposit via Paypal due immediately at auction end. Balance in cash, money order or cashier`s check within seven days. All funds will have to be cleared prior to releasing vehicle and title. Buyer is responsible for collection or shipping arrangement and charges.

Vehicle is sold AS IS and has no warranty implied or offered. It is 27 years old and has been driven just over 6,000 miles a year since new. I would like it to run its course, but reserve the right to end auction if it sells locally.
