Description of 1993 Land Rover Range Rover County Sport

If you want a rare and distinctive Range Rover, this is one to consider. This is a 1993 Range Rover County Sport, a limited edition only sold that year. Land Rover brought about 200 Sports to the U.S. market, most of which were painted Beluga Black. This is one of the very few models that came in Aegean Blue paint.

Condition Description

Overall this vehicle is in excellent condition for its age. Current owner is a lifelong Land Rover enthusiast who has made this Range Rover a documented restoration project over the last couple years. Reason for sale is a need to free up room and budget for a Defender 110 TDI import. Mileage is 186,800 and counting, as it’s still in use. It came with a documented complete engine replacement, although mileage of replacement engine is unknown. Previous owner thought the new engine is about 100,000 miles younger than the body. Engine runs smoothly, quietly, and is powerful. It holds a steady temperature and does not overheat. Transmission shifts smoothly. Vehicle tracks straight and handles well. There is a slight clunk from the front driver’s wheel when going over bumps, suggesting the need for a swivel service. Brakes are powerful. Most usual trouble spots have been addressed and several key upgrades have been made to improve longevity and reliability. The main areas still needing attention are cosmetic issues on the body.

Body issues include panel damage to front passenger fender, rear driver’s side quarter, and lower rear tailgate. Photos show details. Minor rust spots on upper rear tailgate and beginning signs of surface rust in front footwells. Load space floor is dry and rust-free. No frame or underside rust, this has been a west coast car. Clear coat is deteriorating on the roof and there are a few paint dings on the front of the hood. A little pre-emptive treatment would ensure a healthy rust-free future. It’s increasingly hard to find rust-free frames on Rovers of this vintage, so if you want one that is not suffering from corrosion this is a solid example.

Interior is in Westminster Gray. All knobs, switches, and hardware are original and complete – even the dash fuse panel cover. Leather on the driver’s seat shows cracking on the seat and armrest, there is a hole in the rear seat leather. Has original factory rubber floor mats, headliner was recently refinished. No peeling or delaminating of dash trim.

The vehicle has minor fluid leaks, including power steering box and engine oil. No coolant loss. Current owner has watched this like a hawk and it has never needed coolant.

Vehicle has been detailed and comes with a fresh oil change. It’s a turn-key example and is ready to go as-is. Future work should be contemplated as described below.

Buyer will receive an Excel file detailing all parts installed, services done, and maintenance performed by current owner showing date and mileage at which service was done as well as a paper file containing receipts and service records.
