Description of 1954 Lincoln Other

1954 Lincoln Capri 4 Door HardtopI will do my best to describe the car honestly and with lots of detail. If you have any questions please do nothesitate to contact me!Please read the entire description before bidding!! I am open to "buy it now" offers. eBay only let me upload 24 pictures but I can send more upon request.
History:This 1954 Lincoln Capri was purchased new by Clyde and Pearl Yates at Shelbyville Motors in Shelbyville, ndiana. In 1965, lyde and Pearl decided it was time for a new car, nd traded in the car for a brand new Lincoln Continental, lso at Shelbyville Motors. At this time, he car was in such beautiful condition that the dealership service manager, ohn "Doc" Cousins, urchased the car for his wife. Mrs. Cousins did not like the factory color, ellington Gray, nd the car received a very high qualitypaint jobin blue, hich still shows well today. Thepaint jobwas done by Bill Tucker, ho not only worked at Shelbyville Motors, ut was the Cousins' son-in-law. The roof still wears its factory black paint.John Cousins passed away in 1990, nd his son Merle Cousins inherited the car. Merle sold the car to William Holmes in 1992. I purchased the car in 2011 and have had it since! I have always kept the car garaged and have never driven it in the rain or bad weather!
Condition:Aside from the 1965 repaint, his car remains pretty much just as it came from the factory! It is not in perfect condition but is a very nice cruiser, hows well, nd turns heads everywhere it goes! The paint does have some thin spots, cratches, ear, tc. but looks good. There are a couple small bubbles in the paint on the driver side rear quarter panel but no rust thru. The chrome is not perfect but overall quite nice. The underbody of the car is VERY clean and rock solid and rust free. The only rust through I can find on the car is the battery holder box, nd that can be repaired. The interior is 100% original and very clean. The carpet and front seat have a fair amount of wear and there is a small tear in the seat on the passenger side. I chose not to have these items addressed, ecause I am a fan of keeping a car as original as possible. However, omeone else may not feel the same, nd should take that into consideration. The car has its original 6 volt system, hich makes cold starting a chore. The car starts right up when warm though. I kept the 6 volt system for the sake of originality, ut converting to 12 volt is inexpensive and fairly easy, nd makes starting a breeze. Most people I've talked to with 1950s Lincolns have converted to 12 volt systems and highly recommend it. All exterior lights, nterior lights, auges, ipers, nd horn are in working order! The power windows work great and are fast! It runs, teers, nd brakes well! The trunk is in great shape, nd has what is probably the factory spare tire (!) and jack.

Things You Need To Know:As you can see from the list above, ll of the "hard things" have been done. There are still some things that need to be addressed by the future owner. I'd rather you know about these things now, han findsurpriseslater. Treat others as you would like to be treated.- the power antenna does not work and is stuck in the lowered position. As such, he radio picks up very little signal.- seems to be a very slow fluid drip - ended up with a spot about the size of a fifty cent piece after 3 months in the garage. I have not had time to look into this.- the chrome around the tail lamps is a little rough and should bere-chromedat some point.- one of the chrome rock guards has a scrape on it.- the factory windshield washer system is long gone. One can find parts (hose, ump, nd jar) on eBay or through several large classic Lincoln parts sources.- as mentioned above, he radiator needs to be re-cored, nd the car currently runs on the hot side. It does not over heat but you can feel the warmth! The radiator is the factory brass radiator. A good radiator shop can keep the original shell and appearance and put in new "guts". This was next on my "to-do" list but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
