Description of 1969 Lincoln Continental

For sale is my 1969 Continental Mark III in Black over Black with Burgundy leather interior. This car is all there, all the chrome, all the parts and needs some TLC to bring it back to its former glory. The door armrests with switches are located in the trunk. The engine parts that are removed from the engine are also in the trunk. The people I bought it from which were not “regular” owners in that it was purchased by the father for a father son project but the son’s didn't want to get dirty and the father was killed in a car accident so they never really did anything with the car. I don’t feel they knew really anything about cars as the mother could attest to and the father was a landscaper with his lawn as his pride not this car. I was told it needs an engine but based on their sheer lack of knowledge about cars tells me they really didn’t have a clue. I suspect if someone finishes tearing it down to confirm, I seriously doubt it needs an engine. However a 2nd 460 cubic inch engine (correct one for this car) is included as is the engine stand it is on. The second one was verified running and is very strong so either way you can get it running without having to purchase a replacement engine and with a minimum of effort. I really like the car but just don’t have the money to make it as nice as I would like it to be nor am I able to work on it like I could when I was much younger. The headliner and rear sail panels are like new. The dash is clean. The carpets are nice. The seats would be great were it not for all the cracks (they are still very comfortable). It will need tires as the ones on it are so old they no longer hold air for a terribly long amount of time and there is no battery in the car. There is some rust especially on the lower rear quarter panels behind the rear wheels and the lower edge of the trunk lid has rust as well. The vinyl top is very good. All the glass is very good. It really is a solid car with tremendous amounts of potential to be a very very nice car. I really wish I had the money to make it what it deserves to be as it is quite regal in its color combination. As anyone in the know knows there was no 1968 model year which is why this one is a 1969 even though it was manufactured in late March of 1968. This was one of the first off the line and matches Elvis Presley’s that he drove around the time of his comeback tour. It’s a true hardtop with no B pillars (the rear windows slide back into the sail panels) a really neat touch. For its day it was a very expensive car averaging around $6600. It’s also a very heavy car weighing in at over 4700 pounds. It’s a lot of car. Here is a true diamond in the rough that comes with the original engine in the car and an extra matching engine. I can personally guarantee with the right completion it would be worth many times its current price. By far the best looking color combination there was on this car. As for how the car is equipped it has Power Windows, Power Locks, Dual Power Seats, Air Conditioning, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Antenna, Full Leather Interior and so much more, basically everything luxury cars of its day had and some the others didn’t. I’m enclosing 93 photos for you to get a true sense of its condition. If you have any questions or require any further information please don’t hesitate to ask. Thanks for looking.
