Description of 1977 Lincoln Other

1977 Lincoln Versailles with 48,600 original miles. This car was purchased new in 1977 by my Great Grandparents. It was then purchased by my parents in 1986 with 27,000 miles and has remained in their ownership since. The car has been consistently maintained in running driving condition as a spare vehicle. It has been garaged throughout my parents ownership and used very infrequently during winter months. The Lincoln Versailles was produced for 4 years in relatively limited quantities to compete with the Cadillac Seville and they are a rare sight today. The car, with its two-tone paint scheme and complimentary leather interior, is certainly a throw-back to the 1970's style. The Lincoln starts easily, drives well and is enjoyable to drive with its responsive 302 cubic inch V8. It was just driven 80 miles to my home so I could assist in the sale, and it preformed with no issues. Though it is over 40 years old, and anything could break down at any time, I wouldn't be afraid to drive it across state lines. That said, the car does have some issues the new owner may wish to attend to: 3 of the 4 power windows are unreliable or do no work. One rear door lock is sticky with the power switches. The clock does not work. The air conditioner needs charged. The passenger front door closes very hard and the striker needs adjusted. The interior of the Lincoln is generally clean with age wear. Leather seats have no tears or significant cracking, but have some light fade. Carpets are decent but would probably improve with a good cleaning. All door panels are nice with no damage and dash is also very nice with a period compass included for no additional cost. The headliner however, is detached and sagging as seems typical with this vintage car. There are no tears or stains in the fabric so perhaps it can be re-glued. The trunk is in excellent, clean condition, and contains four original floor mats and a shop/repair manual for the car. Original owners manual also included. The exterior looks decent but again has some issues. Probably the worst part of the car is the padded roof. The vinyl(?) material is very dry, faded and split in multiple locations. The top, most certainly, should be replaced. The paint could use a good buffing and has numerous locations of flaking and surface rust - primarily on the lower quarters and lower drivers door. I don't find any areas of rust-through - just flaky surface corrosion. Chrome is nice as are the wheels. It does have one mis-matched tire on the front. The hood ornament is with the car, but has damage and is not attached to the grill. With relatively low production of 15,434 units in 1977 and very few surviving on the roads today, we hope this car finds a deserving home with someone who might wish to improve upon its condition while they enjoy driving it. With the low mileage of 48,600, and single family ownership history, the car seems worth preserving. The Lincoln is located just west of Des Moines near Adel / De Soto. Please email if you have any questions about the car or sale. Motivated seller listing with No Reserve, so please bid to own, but please be serious about completing the purchase.
