The wheels – both stylish and functional – complete a package that is transformational to behold. In these dark days when every automobile on the road seems inspired by a steam iron. this gleaming and glorious relic of our previous century’s lost style stands as epiphany as to what is still attainable to those who think for themselves and seek something better and truer and more unique. Personally. I do not drive a late model car after April 1st. As soon as winter fades away into the oblivion where it belongs. and the snow and salt and cold temperatures become only a vaguely unpleasant memory no more troubling than a bad meal. the classics come out and serve as my proper mode of transportation all summer long. because their style and grace and the pure joy of experiencing how great American cars once were is one of my passions. And this incredible Mark V communicates this inspiration perfectly. I have owned several Marks over the past decade and this one is smoothest and most mannerly of them all. It has been very well-maintained and the result is a ride second to none. The power options work splendidly. the big 460 cu. in. V8 is willing and responsive. and the suspension feels showroom ready. The low miles have preserved what Lincoln engineers intended to be the height of luxury motoring even to this day. 37 years after this gem first left the showroom floor. What I particularly enjoy about these late ‘70’s Lincolns – and this one specifically – is that they provide the classic car experience while at the same time feeling very modern and manageable and easy to own. Once ensconced in the sumptuous cabin. with that big powerplant purring quietly under the hood. you will be amazed at just how comfortable and convenient driving this Lincoln can be. With the power options. the climate control and the wonderful sound system. this Mark compares nicely to a modern car. while at the same time providing an infinitely smoother ride. a beautiful body design and that intangible pleasure that comes with driving something truly distinctive.
