Description of 1988 Mazda RX-7

LT1 Powered 1988 Mazda RX-7 – 49,068 original miles – 15,000 on the motor and trans.

I bought the RX with 33,464 miles, in June 2007 from an 80 year old guy who had bought the car when he retired and moved to Fla. – I can supply a copy of the inspection report I had done before I purchased it and a copy of the Fla Bill of Sale. Shipped it to a friend, a Certified ASE Master Auto Technician, who I persuaded into doing the swap. He rebuilt the LT1 and installed it using the Granny’s conversion kit along with a new 700R-4 trans from Transmission Depot – Hudson Fla. to a Granny’s Driveshaft. & Yoke to the GXL rear (same rear as the Turbo cars). The RX utilizes the GM AC, PS and PB – Cooling is thru a Granny’s LT1 radiator – runs between 195-205 – Exhaust is handled thru Hedman Headers thru dual catalytic converters and out the ORININAL RX7 mufflers. The RX comes with a notebook full of receipts and build paperwork. The RX also has after-market wheels from Discount Tire Direct with 195-60-15 Yokahamas on the front and 235-60-15 Cooper Cobras on the back. The RX is 100% rust free and was repainted 3 yrs ago due to some fading on the hood (see Pre-Paint Pictures) The interior is in excellent stock condition including the stock auto shifter mated to the 700R-4.

The RX was originally going to be a daily driver but came out too nice and too fast so it became a Cruise Night & Car Show car – you should see people walk by it then do a double take and spin around to come back and look and ask questions. I’m selling it because I’m retired and spend most the year in Florida and just don’t take it out much anymore.

That’s all the good stuff – here’s the bad? First the AC isn’t currently working, needs the expansion valve replaced, just haven’t had time to replace it. Second, the RX has a NJ Reconstructed Title because in 2012 Hurricane Sandy hit NJ and my insurance company decided to total out the RX and my Vette without ever coming to inspect them – even though the RX was 5 miles away at my friends shop getting an oil change completely away from the flood waters (did lose the Vette though) – so I buy the car back from the insurance company and now I have to get a NJ Salvage Title (I can supply a copy of the paperwork submitted that says all I did was wash & wax the car) now I have to take the car for its inspection – they have it for 10 minutes and the inspector tells me I need a Reconstructed Title because of the LT1 motor. So more paperwork and I take it back for the reconstructed inspection, where they have it for an hour and a half going over everything they could think of (interesting note the RX picked up only 125 pds going from the Mazda engine and trans to the LT1 & 700R-4 and it balanced exactly 50/50 on their scale) The only good thing is that NJ DMV certified it as a 1995 LT1 so it doesn’t have to go thru any inspection hassles.

If you have questions feel free to message me or come by and look at the car – you won’t be disappointed. Winner to deposit $500 into Paypal account and balance of purchase to be paid by cashier's check or cash on pickup, which must be within 7 days of close of listing.
