1966 Mercedes 250se 4.5 cabriolet resto mod This car was bought from the original owner by a Mercedes master mechanic in 2000. He was looking for many years for a solid original 111 cabriolet to do a custom resto-mod. It took over 5 years to complete. It was completely gone through from head to toe and every part on this car was either refurbished or replaced. Everything on the car looks like it was stock by the factory and fits perfectly. No short cuts were taken. The purpose was to have a 111 cabriolet with modern amenities, nd a smooth powerful feel for everyday driving. The car was completed in 2005. This car started life as an actual real 250se cabriolet. Not a chop top or converted coupe. Recently the car was gone through, t got serviced, ew tires, ew brakes, ll fluids were changed…etc.. The car runs absolutely perfect and feels like driving a more modern Mercedes with a ton of power, ick up and very smooth like butter. To do this today it will cost over $100,000 on top of the price of the car and very hard to find someone who will actually take on this project since it requires a lot of labor and professional experience. Below is a list of what was done: It has a 1975 450slc EURO MOTORwhich was fully rebuilt at the time of the restoration and has more horse power than the USA version. Behr ac from a 3.5 cabriolet Brand new steering wheel Brand new Euro headlights for a 3.5 cabriolet Low grill from a 3.5 cabriolet Heated seats Recently Brand new Michelin tires were just placed on the car Retractable seat belts front and back Power vacuum locks on all doors and trunk Brand new leather upholstry Re chrome all chrome parts New rubber seals New carpeting New 3.5 cabriolet tail lights Cruise control from a 560sec Custom exhaust system Complete new paint job Brand new soft top was just installed a couple of months ago Suspension work Etc etc.. It drives smooth like butter…Better than any 3.5 cabriolet. ..It has an Automatic floor shift. The soft top headliner is original and in great shape.
