Description of 1929 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Mustang 2 II Chassis Convertable SL380 SL450

`NO RESERVE - Factory Built 1929 SSK Roadster Gazelle Replica1988 Build. Mustang II Chassis. 2. 3 Ford Engine. automatic transmission. 4k. Options include disc brakes. nbsp;tilt wheel. heater and defroster. rear mounted spare. back seat. luggage rack. nbsp;decorative side exhaust. full top and fog lights. Upgrades include 4 barrel Holly Carburetor. aftermarket intake and camshaft. Factory built by Gazelle in Florida. not a backyard project on a Volkswagen chassis. I had driven a couple of Gazelles with the standard transmission and one with the VW rear mounted engine. The VW Gazelle could barely get to 60 mph and the build quality overall was not as good as the factory models. The standard shift Gazelles weren't fun. either; the footwell on these cars is narrow and stepping on the small clutch pedal was tricky. The other Gazelles I looked at didn't have a tilt steering wheel. either; the fixed steering wheel makes getting in and out of the car pretty challenging! After doing my homework I specifically looked for an automatic. preferably on the Ford chassis. These factory built Gazelles aren't easy to find with an automatic transmission. tilt steering wheel and a heater. all things I found necessary on this unique car. The mileage is original as far as I know. I purchased it from a collector out in Pennsylvania who had it since new. my mechanic thinks the 4k on the odometer is accurate. I have Classic Insurance on the Gazelle. insured for $16k. $184 per year. full comprehensive. Mechanical: This is a rare Gazelle replica; many of the factory built models were built on a Chevette platform and the ones using a Ford chassis mostly featured the smaller 2. 0 engine. The larger engine is is further enhanced by the 4 barrel Holly carb and mild cam; this is probably one of the fastest Gazelles out there. The engine runs smooth with a nice purr. no noises or leaks from anywhere. The tires have good tread but are beginning to show some cracking from age and the brakes are a bit low. she might need a master cylinder (standard Ford part). The transmission shifts easily as well. All the exterior lights work properly as well as the horn. defrost and heat aren't great but work. and the dash lights and wipers work. The tachometer. gas gauge. nbsp;alternator gauge. fuel gauge and speedometer work. the temperature gauge works intermittently and the oil pressure gauge doesn't work. Always starts easily even after sitting awhile. garage floor is dry when I pull her out. Cosmetic: She presents well overall. The interior could us a bit of work here and there but is presentable. the paint is good but could use compounding. The top is in good shape. The car has always been garaged so there isn't any weather or sun damage anywhere. I will include a pair of black leather. power and heated bucket seats I purchased for the car but never installed. The motor runs strong. tracks straight and the suspension and steering are tight. I had planned on getting her perfect but finances and storage have become a factor. I hope to find the Gazelle a good home. Nice original two tone color combination. I always get smiles and "thumbs up" when I take her out. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the Gazelle is for sale locally and I'm willing to accept reasonable buy it now offers as well. I can assist with shipping in the USA or internationally if necessary. cost of shipping to paid by buyer. I can recommend a door to door auto shipper I've used in the past; they're professional. reliable and have great rates. Any questions feel free to email or call 914-224-3230
