Description of 1958 Mercedes-Benz Other

In 1954, ercedes introduced its two-door grand touring roadster known as the 190SL at the New York Auto Show. Fifteen months later the production version was displayed at the 1955 Geneva Auto Show.

Produced alongside the 300SL, he 190SL had very similar characteristics, owever was much sleeker due to its shortened monocoque R121 platform. The 190SL was produced with a 1.9L straight-four engine that was capable of producing up to 104hp. The car was created with a 4-speed fully-synchronized manual transmission and was available as either a soft-top convertible or a removable hardtop. It took 14.5 seconds to go from zero to sixty and had a top speed of nearly 110 mph. Drum brakes were placed on all four corners of the 14 foot, ne inch vehicle Servo brakes were optional until 1956 at which point they became standard.

The 190SL production run lasted from 1955 through 1963. In comparison to many other nameplates, his is a very low number, uarantying its exclusivity and rarity in today's standards. It was a beautiful sibling to the prestigious and awe-inspiring gullwing door 300SL.

This 1958 190SL is finished in medium blue and has a lovely tan interior. It features the charming "Hella"turn signal switches integrated into the chrome steering wheel ring as well as the celebrated 7 day wind up clock as seen only on the earlier models. This Mercedes also boasts both a matching dark blue canvas soft top and nicely largely original hardtop. The interior is crisp and clean with no signs of major damage or wear. The upholstery is soft and supple, nd appears to hardly ever have been sat upon. The dash is original and complete and is neither marred nor missing any switches or knobs.

The vehicle has been in the same family ownership for 45 years and has been garage kept and loved throughout. This vehicle just received an over $11,000 major service by a local well-known German repair facility here in the Seattle area. The services include but are not limited to; new radiator/coolant, il filter/fluid flush, ir conditioning refresh, ew carburetor gaskets, ew intake gasket, ew distributor cap/rotor/points/condenser, ew spark plugs, ew spark plug wires, ew idler arm bushings, ew generator rebuild and gas tank rebuild. The engine components has been cleaned and refreshed with new factory air hoses. The fuel system has been cleaned and the factory Solex's adjusted.

This is a very nice driver quality car that can be enjoyed as is or restored while enjoying. These cars are incredibly collectible and this example is very reasonably priced to sell.
