Description of 1985 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class

These cars hate to sit unused and unexpected circumstances sidelined this car in 2012. It is not fair to allow the car to not be loved and driven as it should, so is being offered just in time for the Indian Summer Driving season.
This is a 1985 R107, 380SL automatic transmission car. Blue on tan interior with hard and soft top. The car was in top condition when she went into storage with a set of new tires, euro headlamps, beautiful blue soft top and Sony CD player. Sitting with the changes of season has resulted in some under hood oxidation on metal parts that would buff out and be gone when you drive her regularly. Over the past few weeks service has been done to return all systems back to functionality, so the windows go up and down, timing and tuned, electronics cleaned and tested, paint restored with Griots products so she looks near new. Being a 1985, she has the dual row timing chain, so no worries there. All fans work, but the AC has not been filled or tested. It was fully functional when stored, but selling as is.
This roadster has 147,116 miles on the clock, ABS braking that is in like new condition and stiff pedal feel. She shifts well, has buckets of power, and feels very tight going down the road. No exhaust leaks or other known issues under the hood that have not been dealt with since she went to the shop in early May. The hood pad perished while stored and would want to have a fresh one installed. Very simple job using 3M adhesive and the $50 pad. Belts are in great shape and the car would be happy to take you to Portland or Vancouver BC for a nice weekend away.
The interior is a bit faded from all those miles with the top down and the wind blowing through the driver's hair. Leather seats show some wear and one driver seat burn mark, very small, but will look great with an inexpensive dye job and a few good leather feedings this summer on warm days, so the product is able to soak deeply into the hides. There is a hole in the passenger door panel where an attempt to place a speaker happened. The windscreen developed a large crack, such that the glass would want to be replaced. Pricing takes that into consideration. The rear soft window is ultra clear and supple.
The carpets have been deep steam cleaned and treated while the car was at the shop. On the rear parcel shelf you will find one of the rather rare First Aid kits in the holder. Jensen Speakers provide background music for your drives.
The title is clean and this wonderful blue roadster is ready for you. I am selling this for afriend who is reducing his collection.
