Description of 1979 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series

This is a beautiful vehicle. I bought this 8 years ago for a friend to give to her son when he became able to drive. This is built like a tank. Her son still doesn't have his license. I went through this extensively and then put a new paint job on her. She has always been a head turner and I've gotten many compliments on her. My friend drove this for a couple of years. She ran good but needed a little water added occasionally. Needless to say, my friend didn't check the water and overheated it. It was still running, but running poorly. I bought a used motor from another friend that had 100k (same year, same model) on it (barely broken in). I purchased all of the parts and swapped out the motors. I still haven't finished the swap. This project has been sitting in my driveway for over 4 years. I just bought a new house and am doing additions and such and just don't see myself getting to this.
As you can see, there are all new gaskets and such and new parts in the trunk. All of the parts are there. The new motor is in place, but needs the rest of the parts off of the old motor. This includes the old motor, which you can sell when you are done (you should be able to get $500 just for the injection pump alone). The head on the old motor is probably okay as well. I estimate that there should be about 8 more hours of work to get this running (probably more, you know how this goes). The air was blowing cold and the vacuum door locks worked. She ran so nice and got 29 mpg. She has some rust on the rocker panels and around 3 of the 4 tires in the typical places. She is a serious looker and is loaded with new parts. I'll try to remember what new parts I added.
New:
  • shocks
  • brakes
  • rotors
  • drums
  • wheel bearings
  • windshield
  • tires
  • exhaust
  • vacuum pump
  • starter
  • bushings
  • motor mounts
It's just a shame that she isn't out on the road running along. She just needs some TLC and someone to put her back together. All of the parts are there along with new parts as well. I believe there are several new oil filters and possibly others. There is even a shop manual included.
It's time to let her go. She will need to be trailered or dollied. I can put her on my trailer and move her for you at $1.75/mile.
