Description of 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300SD

I have for sale a 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300SD. I am assisting a very good friend sell this car. It was her late husband's car that he kept in immaculate condition. Ever since his passing it has sat inside her garage, seldom driven. Several years later she finally gained the courage to part ways with it. Her and her husband are the original owners!

The good:- The body is in near perfect condition for the age.- Interior is impeccable for the age as well. See pictures, hardly any noticeable wear and tear. Seat back pockets are the only issue in that they are loose.- The engine has great compression. Starts up very quickly, injection pump is in perfect time.- All maintenance was done on time, all done at Mercedes dealerships. Sometime in the last few years most of the maintenance records have been lost but we still have the original owners manual and brochure.- The headlights and tail lights are in great condition and work properly. The housings commonly crack and these are in perfect condition.- The sunroof opens and closes, front power seats work, all power windows work except for the passenger rear.- Interior lights all work.- HVAC is working great. Heat is hot and A/C is cold, blower blows nice and hard.- Paint is original. No body work has been performed.- Current owner is the second owner, but purchased the car with less than 10k miles on it. She tells me the car was a brass-hat, so it was owned by a Mercedes employee before being sold.- No leaks from the engine, transmission, or differential. Seepage from the trans pan.
The bad:-The tires are good but nearly 10 years old-The inside has a bit of a musty smell. All seals seem good and there are no water leaks from the sunroof so I am assuming it is just age.-The front lower ball joints will need replacement. No noise but the boots are torn.- The turbo charger does not boost very well. We have removed the air cleaner and checked shaft play, it has no play at all. It does not burn oil. After having the local Mercedes dealership go over it they believe the boost bypass valve is stuck in the open position.- The wood grain on the passenger side is starting to come up.- Passenger rear power window does not work.- The odometer does not work, the tachometer does not work. All of the other gauges, speedometer, fuel gauge, oil pressure, coolant temp, and warning lights do work. No warning lights are present currently.- Radio does not work.
This car is extremely rare to find in this kind of condition. It is a perfect candidate for a restoration. It really only needs some mechanical work performed (outlined above) to be in a great condition. All of the difficult to find things like interior and exterior parts are in great condition! If you have any questions or would like more pictures please do not hesitate. I will have a video of the car starting and running soon. *edit*https://youtu.be/bL38gXsxuhQ

The odometer currently reads 122,195. However this reading is off since at some point through the last few years of sitting it has stopped counting. The speedometer and other gauges still work. Being familiar with Mercedes 126s this is usually a simple plastic gear change in the back of the cluster, and there are several places that can perform the work. I can provide this information to the buyer if needed.
Thank you so much for looking and good luck!
