This 1971 Mercedes Benz 280SL roadster was built in July 1970 and delivered to its first owner at LP Evans in Miami FL on October 12, 1970. In October 1984, at 85,229 miles, a no-expense-spared, sympathetic restoration began of the rust-free southern SL by Richard Denecke in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The car remained in North Carolina until October 1992 and 98,000 miles, when it was purchased and transported to the Philadelphia Main Line suburbs. The current owner purchased the SL in July 2002 with 102,933 miles, has driven it just over 2,000 miles, stored it in a heated garage, and faithfully maintained it since then.

Equipment includes the hard top, a dark brown soft top, Kangol seat belts, Frigiking air conditioning, Becker Europa radio, 4-speed manual transmission, manuals, tool kit, spare tire and receipts since 1984. A ceiling-mounted hardtop hoist is included. There are (4) aftermarket speakers mounted in the door panels and rear storage area.

The high-quality restoration is holding up extremely well with just light fading to the carpets and minimal wear to the interior and exterior finishes. The undercarriage is very clean, indicating the car was not driven in inclement weather since the restoration. Serviced annually, the car is ready for high-quality street use by its next owner.
