Description of 1988 Mercedes-Benz 500-Series

This is one exceptionally well built, well maintained, and muscular German luxury coupe. The W126 line is, to date, Mercedes Benz longest running and most successful vehicle platform. Available as both a sedan and a coupe, It dominated the global luxury car sales market. This car has it all. Long range driving comfort, powerful V8, and bullet-proof German engineering. To this day it still stands out and turns heads. We fell in love with these old Mercedes and have had several in our collection. This gorgeous 2 door coupehas been an absolute joy to have in our collection. Now it is time for someone else to enjoy her...

This beautiful car is being sold with very low reserve! At the time I started my auction, there were two similar 560SEC at auction that were already bid to nearly double my reserve with 2 days left in the auction. Someone will be driving in style in this beautiful classic Benz; be great if it were you, wouldn't it?!
I've made 5 videos of walk-around, start, drive, accelerate. You can watch them here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EErspKrkxTU&list=PLEdTYqvP_X8sdlIq_yQpiLlqF-QvCcAsy
We fell in love with classic Mercedes many years ago and have collected several of them. We've decided now its time to let her move on and be enjoyed by someone new.
This 560SEC luxury coupe was originally sold in Beverly Hills, California for $79,130 and spent most of its life in dry climate, which is why the body, frame, paint, etc are all in such great condition. I still have the original window sticker from Beverly Hills LTD, the original manuals and instructional cassette (see photos). This beauty has smoke silver metallic paint and palomino leather interior. The quality of the paint they used back then is amazing. Even after 30 years this paint is still has a nice shine to it. I get compliments on this car whenever I take it out. There is no rust on the body, virtually none underneath, and even the trunk and spare tire area are clean and rust-free (see photos). The front bumper chrome is the only place where a little rust is visible and this is only a trim "skin" piece which can be easily replaced (available from eBay and other places). To my knowledge, the only time this vehicle had anything other than normal maintenance done was after the passenger door was dented in a parking lot back in 2005. This was reported to police to insure that a good quality repair was done on the dent. The wheels are the correct 500-series alloy wheels, with great metallic sparkle to them and brand new Blizzak tires. The tires have plenty of tread on them, less than 1,000 miles driven on these tires. The photo of the trunk shows two chrome 500-series wheels, these wheels are not included in the sale unless the "buy it now" button is pressed to end the sale. If you click "buy it now", I will include four chrome 500-series wheels for you to upgrade the vehicle or have two sets of tires if you desire.
The interior is very clean as well, look closely to see in the photos. There is almost no wear on the seats at all, there are zero rips or tears. There are no broken springs in the seats and it is very comfortable to drive. The door panels and carpets are clean and even the wood is in wonderful condition. All the gauges are working, including the clock. The power door locks work the way they are supposed to. The vacuum system is working properly. The power sunroof opens and closes at the push of a button. The power windows all work as they should. With the sunroof open and the windows down, its almost like being in a convertible. In fact, the car has no "B" pillar and my father always called this a "hard top convertible" when we were growing up. The climate control functions, blows hot heat, but the AC is not blowing cold, may need a re-charge.But the best thing about this classic Mercedes is the way it drives.
This car has LOADS of power and is shifting smoothly through all the gears. It feels effortless to pull away quickly and reach 60 or 70 mph and you can comfortably cruise at 85 miles per hour. The brakes are very strong and do not squeak, the suspension is also very nice and has that classic Mercedes sweet ride quality.
Please look at all the pictures, the car is not new and it is not a trailer queen, but boy is it a fantastically well preserved original and it has many hundreds of thousands of miles ahead. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a test drive, please send me a note through Ebay and I will get back to you promptly. I can also do a video walk around so you can see and hear the car.I would prefer to sell this car locally, because it is so impressive in person, but I can also assist in shipping arrangements (paid for by the buyer) or an airport pick up for any out of town winning bidders. Please have your funding in order and do all your "due diligence" BEFORE placing a bid. These cars are commanding anywhere from $7k to $15k and I've seen flawless examples priced above $25k. We have a very reasonable "buy it now" price, and based on a recently closed auction for the same year and model, I expect this auction to end with someone clicking the "buy it now" button when they see that the bidding is headed there anyway. The car is being offered locally, so seller reserves the right to end auction early if purchased locally.
I can help with international shipping, have shipped cars to Europe this year.International bidders welcome!!!

Thank you for stopping by and good luck !!

On May-30-18 at 16:44:12 PDT, seller added the following information:

Update!! I was watching this same car, a 1989 version that just sold for a little over $9100. That being the case, I'm reducing my "buy it now" price to $7700, and that will still include the second set of 4 brand new CHROME wheels when you click the button. ALSO - I know the air conditioning was working last summer, it still feels a little cool right now, so I'm gonna try to get the car in the shop and the A.C. blowing cold before the auction ends. Keep watching, and thanks for bidding!
