Description of 1983 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class S-Class

OK, so here’s the story with this fantastic car. I purchased this car in Dec. 2016 and have driven it roughly 1,700 miles. I got it as a graduation gift for finishing grad school, but with work and driving my regular car, I don’t get to enjoy as much as I wish. The SL is always garaged or under a car port with the car cover. The SL had 59,695 original miles and drives and rides like a charm. Since I got the SL, I replaced the soft top and had it professionally installed at over $1,200. The SL does come with the white hard top to match the car along with the pulley harness to mount in your garage, (see pics). I also replaced the spark plugs wires and plugs with European components, new floor mats and the tires are new with less than 1,500 miles on them. The SL has all original OEM interior, down to the emergency kit in the back bench and the original full spare in the trunk. Transmission shifts smoothly with no leaks. Everything electrical on the SL works perfect, the windows, antenna, locks, etc. I did replace the factory radio with a new Pioneer Bluetooth radio and new dash speakers. All the gauges work perfect. The original radio comes with the SL. There are no leaks of any kind, the alignment was done when I got the car and the title is clean, registered in Texas.

Here are the fix items. The A/C compressor works and kicks in but the air is barely cool, so it needs to be serviced with new Freon. The dash clock does not work, it never did since I got the SL and I have never had time to look into it. Aside from a couple of little dents on the body, it’s solid and the paint is still very good. A good waxing will make it stand out even more.

I’ve included several pics and if you need anything in particular, please ask. This SL is for the true Mercedes Benz aficionado and deserves to have the right owner. As with any Mercedes Benz, these cars were built to last and this one still had another 20 years or more to go. I hate to let it go, but I just don’t have the room for it anymore. I’m sure you will get as much enjoyment driving this car as I did. Good luck bidding.
