Description of 1986 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class

1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SEC Coupe

For your consideration is this truly magnificent example of the legendary C126 chassis coupe presented in its original (568) Signal Red color. The W126 is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful coupes that Mercedes-Benz ever made and most recently collectors are beginning to appreciate the cars simple, but classic lines and advanced engineering.

-Exterior-

The paint is simply stunning, the shine is a mile deep and is blemish free. While signal red paint is very common on Mercedes SL vehicles, the SEC manages to take a fairly played out color, breathe new life into it, and wear it as if it was bespoke. The chrome is in excellent condition. Structurally this Mercedes is in excellent condition, there is not so much as a spot of rust on this beauty, even the hardware (nuts, bolts and screws) show absolutely no corrosion or discoloration. The undercarriage is just as clean as the body, this car was babied and garage kept for its entire life.

Rims are perfect, absolutely no curb rash. The spare tire is in brand new condition and appears to have never even been taken out of the car.

-Interior-

The cashmere interior is in factory fresh condition. The carpets have been covered by genuine Mercedes covers from day one and both the covers as well as the original rugs are in excellent condition... no stains, wear, rips or tears. The leather seats are also in very good condition, there is only the slightest amount of minimal wear on the driver's side bolster (common on Mercedes vehicles of this vintage). The wood trim is in good condition, however the small hairline cracks, common to Mercedes vehicles from the 1980's, are beginning to show.

There are no strange smells or odors which are sometimes common in older cars...as matter of fact this example emanates the scent of leather.

-Engine & Transmission-

The original 5.6 litre, eight cylinder engine starts up on the first try and it is strong as ever. It runs and idles as it should, with no problems. The transmission shifts seamlessly through the gears with no slipping or jerking. There are no strange noises or vibrations from the engine or drive train. It drives nice and straight at any speed.
