The 450 SEL 6.9 really was Mercedes Benz pinnacle car back in the day, each hand-built motor was bench-tested for 265 minutes, 40 of which were under full load. The motor produced 286 hp (213 kW) with 405 lb·ft (549 N·m) of torque from the factory, a special car indeed.

This example is finished in Milan BrownMetallic with contrasting Pullman Brown Leather interior and is in very nice shape. Built late 1978 this 1979 Model was purchased new from Laurel Motors Inc, Illinois this example made its way to Louisiana after a period of time, the cars condition has benefited from the southern climate for sure. The exterior paintwork is in very nice condition with only minor blemishes due to age and use but benefits from a great shine. Car shows a mere 48,630 miles; we cannot substantiate this but believe true due to its condition.

Please study the images, you really can see how clean this car is for its age, please also note the paint gauge readings. The only thing worth mentioning of note with regard to the paint is a small area on the driver’s side door where the leading edge has been caught at some point in the past, this can be seen in the supplied imagery, also some faded clear coat on the top of the passenger side doors (although I think this will detail out with the help of a professional).

All door gaps and straightness of panels are beautiful, it has survived well. The interior is just superb for its age, exactly what you would expect from Mercedes top of the line flag ship from the 70’s, seat upholstery, leather, dash, over matts, carpet, headliner, all in superb condition throughout. There are no warning lights on the dash whatsoever, suspension works with no issues and the car drives wonderfully. The electric sunroof works just as it should, a/c blows cold and the gauges on the dash are just as informative as the day it left the factory. Some minimal wear to front arm rest, please consult images.

All Factory/Dealer supplied glove box pack is present, Warranty Booklet, Service Book, Hand Book, Parts Catalogue, Data-Card, Data Plate, Stereo, Emissions, Seat Heater Supplement, and even 3 keys,it’s all there. Below is a breakdown of the Data Card supplied with the car, please study carefully.

In the last thousand miles the car has received over$11,000worth of maintenance work, the main bulk being:

Fuel Hoses, P/S Filter, Fan Clutch, Freon, Relays, Suspension Filter, Suspension Fluid, Exhaust Hanger, Service, Accumulator, Hood Insulation Pad, Suspension Rods, Window Seals, Brakes Work, Limited Slip Diff Oil, Transmission Oil, Pinion Seal, Rear End Bearings, Heater Servo… also included is a receipt for a new Alpine Head unit & Amplifier, Speakers plus installation, just to bring the driving experience up to date (Head Unit is also Pandora Compliant). The receipts for these works are included in the imagery, please consult.

The Alloy Wheels are in fantastic condition for age, they are wearing nearly new BF Goodrich tires, and the Spare is present in the trunk. The trunk area is carpeted, with an over matt, and with the rubberised non slip factory item underneath that. This car has been looked after and cherished, even the cruise control is still functional! The car does feature Euro style bumpers which suit it much better than the US counter parts in my opinion. The car also retains its suspension travel chocks in the trunk (for static transportation – Also pictured).

Please study the underside images, car is clean, factory undercoating has made sure this example has faired very well in its sparing use (48,630 Miles). A video attached for you to see how the car acts under a driving environment, it shifts smoothly, and picks up very well with plenty of power, a proper example this…

The car was sold new to an Engineering Manufacturing Company in Illinois, we believe the car was serviced in house as the factory service records were not filled in by Mercedes, condition and running of the car show no issues. We have tried to contact the initial purchasing company, but have had no luck in obtaining these records, persistence by the winning bidder may prove otherwise!

I have tried to be as transparent as possible in my description of the car, it is not a concours show winning example, but avery gooddriver quality example to use and enjoy and can be improved upon in some small areas at the new owner’s discretion.

Please, any questions feel free to ask, the car is available for viewing at any point of the auction, and we will be as helpful as possible in accommodating a time that suits your needs to view If required. Car is located in Dallas Texas.
