This totally original 1978 240D (diesel/4 speed) was owned by my brother-in-law for 40 years. He bought it new at the factory in Stuttgart in 1978 and then toured Europe in it. He was a Mercedes "nut", also owning a 1961 300SL Roadster and a 1970 300 SEL 6.3 and he was absolutely METICULOUS in caring for the cars. He passed away in 2018 at the nice age of 89. My sister, his wife, thought the car should be kept in the family so I volunteered to keep it. The car has been kept in my garage since May 2018, As you can see from the pictures, the condition of the car is virtually perfect-you can still smell the incredible leather interior. Everything works: sunroof, AC, heat and radio. I drove the car from Western New York State, where it was in storage, to Philadelphia at 70-80 mph and it ran great. I'm offering it for sale now as my better half wants it gone from the garage and I rarely drive it. Starting price: $8,800.00...This auto is for a true collector of classic Mercedes. The mileage on the car is approximately 5,000 miles/year which as you diesel lovers know is just broken in.
