This vehicle was originally owned by the Swiss military as a troop carrier. It has a Mercedes gas engine. 6 cylinder. with only 67580 original kilometers (around 42k miles). This is not a ragged-out offroad beater. This machine is straight and mostly original. It is a "parade quality" military truck that you will be proud to own. It features most of the original recovery tools (cable. axe. pick. and jack - the shovel is missing) and the original operators manual. It also comes with the frames for the troop seats. If you want to take it off-roading. there is not much out there that can stop it. 11x20 tires on portal axles give this beast almost 20 inches of ground clearance. and the fully articulating coil spring suspension allows it to traverse obstacles with ease. The transmission is a 6-speed gearbox with integral transfer box and 2 reverse gears. Fully locking differentials. Four wheel drive and axle differential locks can be engaged and disengaged at any time without declutching. It will pull (or out-pull) almost anything you can hook to - perfect for getting your buddy's Hummer unstuck. If you don't know of the Unimogs legendary capability. just search for "unimog" on You-Tube. In spite of it's age. parts are readily available through Expedition Imports. These vehicles originally had point type ignition and military shielded plugs and wires. The distributor on this truck has already been upgraded from points to electronic ignition. and the plugs and wires are civilian type that you can get at your local parts store. It needs nothing.
