Description of 1986 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 560-SL COUPE CONVERTIBLE

1986 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 560-SL COUPE CONVERTIBLE.

This has been in the family for about 15 years. A late model BMW 2 series convertible is why we need to make room in the garage.Drives well, power and transmission are good, as is the exterior. Paint looks great, still has that deep MB luster that buffs out beautifully.

The included hard top is in nice shape; (shoppers should know it is a two-person job to get on and off -- unless you have a garage winch, which I don’t).

As you can see in the photos, theLeather seats are well faded – it spent lots of time in the sun.

Over the years, we did regular maintenance, valve rebuild, and replaced transmissions gaskets.

What needs repair:See photos for a minor tear in the soft top (patched with tape), a crack in the dashboard, a minor ding in the rear quarter panel (did not penetrate the paint). The handle that opens the rear deck lid snapped in the winter; (I have the replacement parts but have yet to install them). There is some minor pitting of the paint; the areas where the hard top sits on the body shows some wear. For serious inquiries, I can provide additional photos.

Radio does not work especially well, thought the power antenna works. We have never needed the air conditioning, but that does not blow cold – I assume it only needs a Freon refrigerant refill (we have never turned it on until now). The ABS light stays on, and no one wants to rely on airbags that are nearly 35 years old.

The car needs someone to put in more time and TLC then I havethese days.
