This 1977 Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9 is a European example that was sold new in France and later imported to the US, where it remained in South Carolina until the selling dealer’s acquisition. Power is provided by a 6.9-liter SOHC V8 paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Service within the last year included fluid changes and replacing the spark plugs, as well as installing new lower ball joints, engine mounts, and tires. The suspension stays up for MONTHS, and does not leak down.
Some of the recent work...1. Engine Oil, filter service2. Transmission service3. New battery4. Replaced spark plugs5. Replaced brakes flex hoses6. Replaced steering coupling and steering damper7. Replaced lower control arm ball joints8. Replaced engine mounts9. R&R right rear window regulator10. Installed (5) brand new tires.

Finished in Anthracite Grey Metallic over Parchment MB-Tex, this W116 is now offered with a clean Ohio title. The exterior was repainted in 2018 in its factory shade of Anthracite Grey Metallic (172), and closeups of the finish and trim are provided in the photo gallery below. A new heated rear window was also installed in the last year. This example retains its Euro-spec glass-covered headlights and slimmer bumpers. 14” Bundt alloys were mounted with FIVE Hankook Optima H725 tires in the last year. The cabin is trimmed in Parchment MB-Tex with matching velour carpets, and equipment includes power windows and manual climate control. The A/C does not function and needs serviced. A Becker Mexico cassette stereo is retained in the console, but does not function.
The 6.9-liter M100 V8 features Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and dry-sump lubrication. European models were factory-rated at 285 horsepower at 4,250 rpm and 405 ft-lb of torque at 3,000 rpm when new, which is sent to the rear wheels via a 3-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Service within the last year has included an oil change, transmission fluid change, new spark plugs, new engine mounts, and a new battery. The car has also been fitted with new lower ball joints, brake hoses, and a steering coupling.
