Description of 1987 Mercedes-Benz 500-Series 560SEL

1987 Mercedes Benz 560 SEL Sedan VIN: WDBCA39D71HA332006 If you’ve followed my Ebay vehicle auctions the past seven or eight years you’ve noticed we get a fair number of great vintage Benz sedans on a regular basis. A local. long-term owner passed this classic boulevard cruiser along to us two weeks ago and after spending just a few minutes behind the wheel I was sold on it! It would be perfect for a daily driver or a nice. long road trip. The longer wheelbase of the W126 SEL chassis gives greater access to the rear seat. too. From the moment I laid eyes on this clean car. it was obvious that it’s received respect and care over the years. Please feel free to email or contact me with any questions. My direct phone number is 206/914-1173 and my name is Mark Thompson. You’re welcome and encouraged to stop by my Auburn. WA warehouse to inspect the car and take it out on the road. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION Ever driven one of these S-Class Mercedes with the powerful. bullet-proof 5. 6 liter V8 engine? What a treat! Smooth is the word for sure. Smooth. powerful acceleration. Smooth handling in the curves or on the highway. too. Comfort. style. and versatility all in one gorgeous ride. I’ve always considered these cars constructed through the early 90’s as some of the last hand-built. truly high-quality Mercedes and have heard many others say the same thing! Take a look at the photos and I’m sure you’ll agree with me. What you see is the result of a wash and vacuum only! “Time capsule” really is a great way to describe this car. It’s obviously been allowed to spend a majority of its life garaged because the overall condition is truly better than most any other 28-year-old daily driver you’re likely to encounter. Rust? Please. this Benz HATES rust and I haven’t found any here to be concerned about at all. Climb over. under and around this clean sedan. I’m convinced you’ll come up smiling!! Having personally owned many Mercedes models over the years. I’ve developed a great appreciation for their style. mechanical reliability and overall driving experience. As a respected Ebay seller with several hundred satisfied Ebay vehicle buyers. I want you to bid with confidence knowing that this is a great car. CONDITION: In brief. this is a well-cared-for. smoke and accident-free Mercedes. It sold new here in Bellevue. Washington at Barrier Motors on July 14. 1987 with an MSRP of $65. 20 - imagine what that equals in 2014 Dollars! There are no additional options listed on the factory window sticker (it’ll be included along with all the original manuals and records) as most every whistle and bell came standard on this top-line car. I take great pride in the vehicles we sell. feeling that you should know as much about them as possible before bidding. Accordingly. here’s a list of the good and also small things needing attention: Hop in. fire up the powerful V-8 engine and it starts immediately! The automatic transmission shifts smoothly. I feel the car idles. runs and drives as it was meant to – immediate strong oil pressure. good battery and charging system. no brake pull. pulsing or alignment issues! I’ve driven it daily over the past week and freeway cruised at 70 MPH. The factory original pearl grey metallic paint is in exceptionally good condition and still holds quite a shine. I find NO fading clearcoat or rust spots and surprisingly few nicks or rock chips. Very decent chrome and exterior trim all around. too! The front fenders. doors. rear quarters and floor pans are all solid. The factory wheels are straight and true. They’re wrapped with 205/65R15 Touring Radials each with at least 75% remaining tread. Take another good look at the interior photos. The grey leather upholstery is all-original with the pictures giving an accurate view of its condition. Hop in and feel comfortable sitting on these firm seats for hours. There is no visible shrinkage. splits. cracking or wear-through spots on either of the leather front buckets or the rear seat cushions. This SEL has the rare power adjustable. heated rear bench seat (the fronts are heated too). All the dash gauges are as bright and true as the day the car left the factory and appear to function & read normally except the clock. The heater and fan system work fine. It’s quite rare to find a vintage Benz with a still-working factory AM-FM Becker “Europa” stereo. I usually spend a small fortune having them repaired or installing a modern CD player instead if the buyer isn’t concerned with originality. This radio is the rare exception; even the LCD display is perfect (same goes for the pixels on the digital dash thermometer – very high tech thirty years ago!). All four power windows and the extra-large sunroof fully open and close smoothly. The power seats move in all directions from the door mounted switches and the vacuum locking system works fine. No visible leaks from the sunroof or anywhere on the spotless headliner. You’ll find the jack. unused spare and factory tools in the trunk as pictured. Pop open the package shelf bin and you'll see the first-aid kit there (it’s never been opened). I’ll be sure the rare carpet-matched rear passenger footrests as also in place when the Mercedes ships out from our warehouse to its next caretaker. About the only negatives I can think to point out are: No movement from the power antennae. Currently it's in the down position and really isn't needed for good FM reception anyway. Though the A/C comes on. it could use a recharge to blow colder. One of the headlights is cracked. but works. That’s about it. Please don’t be upset if I miss a minor flaw or a small amount ends up needing to be spent to fix a problem I’m unaware of. No used car is ever perfect! Having said that. I would not hesitate to drive this Mercedes long distance immediately. I’m always very happy to work with any shipper you choose. but you’re also welcome to do what many of our previous buyers from as far away as Alaska. Arizona. the Midwest. Canada. Florida. New York and even the Mexican Baja have done – fly in here to Seattle (I’ll pick you up at Sea-Tac International just a few miles away) and then start a road trip home the same day! Please check the photos over closely and call me with any questions BEFORE you place a bid! Because of the amount of money involved with a vehicle purchase. we reserve the right to cancel your bid if you have any negative feedback. I also ask that potential bidders with a feedback rating of five or fewer transactions on Ebay contact me before placing their bid. Finally. we reserve the right to end the auction early if the Mercedes is no longer for sale or an acceptable offer has been agreed to before the end of the auction period. Please feel free to contact me directly thru Ebay’s system or. as outlined above. call me at 206/914-1173 anytime. My name is MARK THOMPSON. A Few Additional Terms and Conditions: A nonrefundable $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of the auction’s end. The balance is due by cash (in person only). wire transfer or other certified funds within seven days unless prior arrangements have been made with me. I can accept PayPal for the balance. but will first need to invoice the purchaser and ask that you cover the 3. 5% fee the service charges to receive in payments. Please remember you are bidding to buy and I fully expect the winning bidder to fulfill their Ebay contract! You’re not bidding to hold or then come inspect and test-drive the vehicle later -- You’re more than welcome and encouraged to do this before the auction ends. The car can be stored at my location for up to two weeks after the auction ends (assuming full payment has been received). After this period storage will be $20 per day.
