Description of 1957 Mercury Monterey

I found this 1957 Mercury Monterey in a barn in California about ten years ago. Istarted with anew fuel pump, alve adjust and tune up. The motor runs strong. The push button automatic works slick. I had new duel exhaust installed with glass packs mounted as far forward as practical to get that good 50's rap on deceleration. She sounds great! Not too loud either. I had the front and rear bumpers re-plated. Then I had the body blocked out and painted as shown. That was ten years ago.Unfortunately, made the mistake of trying to help afellow get on his feet. When his free ride endedhe showed his appreciation by knifing all four tires and keying the ride side and trunk lid. I myself was in poor health about the same time and sort of threw up my hands. Iput her aside and there she stayed. I did put a new set of radials on her. They may have ten miles on them at the most. I've taken her out for a couple short rides to town and back.Over the years the clear cote has turned in several places and the paint began to bubble at the left rear corner of the roof. I scraped the paint offand cleaned the loose material away so you can see exactly what needs fixed. The floor boards and trunk feel good and solid. The bottom of the spare tire well has some surface rust but also feels good andsolid. The body is solid as well. There are a couple small bubblesunder the paintas you go all the way around. Other than what I've previously described there are no major rust issues that I've seen. I would consider anything you need to cut out and repair to be major. I've also included photos ofmost ofthe trim pieces. There's more. One of the front fender trimspears is missing, forget which side. There's a fellowwho regularly advertises in Hemming's Motor News whospecializes in parts forthese cars. The car has been upgraded to an alternator which works perfectly. The windows role up and down nicely and the doors shuttightly. She really runs beautifully down the road.I think the shocks may be original if that tells you anything. Since I already spent thousands having her painted once, he body is straight as a pin!I've includedphotos of both sides. Hopefully you can see how straight and clean the body is. I think I have all the pieces except the one fender spear. The interior is original. I saved all the interior panels to be copied. The metal seat bases and springs are in good shape. These cars have a simple interior detail which makes it easy.Lights and horn work. Interior gauges and controls work. All buttons and knobs are present. Original radio and clock.I was told the miles are original by the old man I bought her from. Was he was telling the truth? Anything's possible, ight? Please ask any questions before bidding. I'll try to respond as soon as I can. Buyer will receivea clean California title. Please be ready to follow through with a purchase before bidding. I don't need any practice.Thank you for your interest.
