Description of 1947 Mercury Convertible

Close your eyes and imagine the perfect custom-built hot rod. It starts with a 1948 Ford convertible body...Wait, no... A rarer, and more premium Mercury version. Then customize the body and add high-gloss paint. Give it a modern leather interior with comfortable A/C, an updated chassis, and small block power plant... and you realize that you don't have to imagine this amazing package, because it's right in front of you!The appeal of this one is far more than just the high-gloss cream-colored paint that highlights all the curves of the body. We know people are really going to take some extra time going over the details of this one. After all, this is a very classic Mercury design with some very modern touches. It starts off with a body that has traded in most of its chrome for a very sleek appearance. Up front that means a full custom setup that takes away the heavy look of the bumper, and instead, it integrates a sleek front end that flows nicely into the rounded fenders. And the details are amazing from the frenched-in headlights to the turning blinkers that are neatly integrated into the bottom of the bumper area. The sides have sport mirrors, shaved door handles, and a cool custom graphic that reminds us all that Mercury is a fleet-footed Greek god. In the rear, there's no trace left of the bumper so nothing gets in the way of viewing the custom LED taillights. And while this is a very sleek and modern-style setup, no classic American is complete without a little bright work. And now that it's only on the grille and Billet Specialties wheels, they are true standouts on this drop top.Pop the remote door openers and reveal a full custom interior. You might have noticed the cool way the burgundy Mercury lettering on the exterior nicely matches the burgundy cloth roof. Well, you still get that same great color coordination with the top down, too. The full burgundy matches the rear seats, door panels, and center console for an overall fantastic presentation it will make you proud to take the top down and show off this very unique build. But beyond just looking great, those power-adjusted leather bucket seats up front are vastly more comfortable than anything that came out of the 1940s. You also get all the right features like an AM/FM/cassette stereo with CD changer. Plus, there are provisions for both power windows and modern air conditioning. The original steel dash has been retained and painted to match the body, and it has a fantastic symmetrical Art Deco presentation. But just to remind you how much thought went into this build, the steering wheel is a wood and chrome banjo-style Grant unit. In back, the trunk has been upholstered to match and will hold a week's worth of luggage, making this exactly the kind of rod you'll want to drive cross-country.Look under the hood and be amazed. With the polished valve covers, air topper, alternator, piping, and intake, we pretty much dare you to find another component that could be turned into bright work. But when you look beyond the shine, you're going to see the substance of a 350 cubic-inch V8. Topped with a four-barrel carburetor, it does a fine job of making plenty of power and a sweet rumble for the dual exhaust. And a custom convertible like this is the kind of car you want to comfortably cruise everywhere. That's why it also has features like an updated independent front suspension, three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and front disc brakes.Mercury produced less than 7,600 of these convertibles. That was nearly 70 years ago, so you'll be hard-pressed to find another let alone one that has been turned into such a cool custom. In fact, the sale comes complete with a large restoration photo book so you can take everyone on this Merc's unique transformation. Rarities like this are often the kind of car that you either need to call for today or possibly regret it tomorrow. Don't miss out, call today!
